Hey E-chick, is Cbid selling your purses? Or are these made by someone else? I have seen these type purses on other auction sites

wwjome44 --- is you haven't noticed, one of the bidders is 'MF of Encinitas, CA' ...

... I don't think she would be bidding on one of her own purses, unless she's 'shilling' to increase the bidding.

... and that would be highly unethical of her, if she was!

most humble apologies to the great Slimboli for daring to post a question without knowing the initials and hometown of every forum poster....

You don't have to be a jerk about it ...

Just informing you of a fact that you may not have been aware of ...

Besides ... no one was asking you to know the initials and hometown of every poster on this board.

Marla, being one of the very few female posters (and indisputably the most outspoken) at this forum ... for several years ... has posted her email address, hometown, and so many pictures of herself you could fill an album ...

... one would think that she would not be hard to forget (or at least figure out).

Slim

That sounded like a back handed compliment.

Who's being a jerk? You are always quick to point out everybody's mistakes, oversights, obvious questions, over discussed topics, stupid newbie questions, and other "rules" of the board. I asked her the question not you, but you feel compelled to both answer for her as well as point out some fact that I should know

Wow, 'outspoken'??? ME???

Anyway, wwjones44, to answer your question, no. They are not mine (there's also another one up for bid).

And, yes, I am bidding on it just to see how it was made so I can do a comparison to mine.

I'm not sure who is making these for them. There is always one particular person bidding on empty boxes here, so maybe it's theirs.

In any case, I'm anxious to see it. Can't beat the price! I spend more than what it's going for here just on the beads that I use....

btw, I'm not crazy about the cheap drawer pull handle used on this beautiful box. But it keeps costs down...

Slim, MF of Encinitas, CA is of course in this instance moi...

...but don't be so SURE of yourself! It could also be my hubby. He's a frequent bidder here as well. We have the same initials.

Actually, we have the same THREE initials.

... take it with a grain of salt.

LOL @ eleltea --- too funny!

...only this was not a 'true of false' statement, just an observation I thought I'd point out.

There was no right or wrong answer to this one ... ;^)

I just received the 'giraffe' print cigar box purse from cbid and I'm still waiting on the Partagas one.

I must admit that I'm disappointed in the lack of craftsmanship. I don't know who made it, and I'm sorry if this is offensive, but it was poorly made.

It should have several added coats of varnish or laquer and it doesn't.

The fabric is cut unevenly on the inside and outside of the box.

There is ugly, messy glue blotches on one side where the wood is exposed on the outside.

And the inside also has glue overruns that look a mess.

The beaded handle, however, is simple and quite nice.

Overall, I think it's a darling purse and I in fact received about 4 compliments last night while carrying it.

But, I believe that the artist needs to pay a bit more attention to quality control and they'd have a winner.

But, ya know, for the price ($9.00), the old saying, "you get what you pay for" applies...

:)

My wife saw some on a local artsy-fartsy shop and they were going for $52. Is that the going rate for a well crafted one?

Mike,

The can be any price.

I usually see them for $50-$200+

Well crafted doesn't necessarily mean expensive and vice versa.

I think mine are nicely done and I would be happy to sell one at $52.00. Considering that I use beads and supplies that may cost ME $20+ per purse...plus labor...I think that $52.00 is a fair deal.
