Been lurking around here for about a month, finally decided to join in. Just finished a CAO Brazilia Gol. What a smoke! Wife and kids had gone to bed. I usually only have the chance to burn a cigar during my 1.5 hour commute to work. One each way. This was the way to do it. Sitting on the porch with the temp in the mid 40s, no wind, clear sky, and my dog by my side. The only things breaking the silence was the crickets and an occasional car passing in the distance. I think I'll make this a Sunday night tradition.

Yikes. Hour and a half commute? That's brutal. I know, I used to do it. Now I prefer to starve.

Welcome aboard. I guess you know that some of us love to beat each other's brains out over politics on the Misc board. It getting to be my favorite part. There's the flag waving superpatriots and the commie liberals and everything in between. Unfortunately there's not as much real dialog as disjointed statements but that's the nature of the medium.

Geckoheart, you live in California, or is there somewhere else in the world where it takes that long to drive to work? Welcome. Like your handle. Mel Gibson was great in that movie.

Must be a Californian with a drive like that one! Welcome to the board and do not let the Liberal Left (only joking) drive you nuts.

geckoheart - Welcome Aboard!

First things first, send your cigar to SteveS. After that send the rest of your cigars to me. No need in delaying the inevitable...LOL!

There are some great people here that will fill your heart and your head, be afraid - be very afraid.

Welcome Again!

Regards,

B

Nah... couldn't be California

1) "The only things breaking the silence was the crickets and an occasional car passing in the distance"

There are very few (if any) places in Cali left where this can happen.

2)"I usually only have the chance to burn a cigar during my 1.5 hour commute to work."

The commute in Cali usually consists of holding food and/or coffee with one hand, holding the phone with the other, driving with your knee and reloading your weapon in between swerving in and out of the carpool lanes.

3)"...no wind, clear sky,..."

Clear sky in California?!?!?

Welcome. It will only get worse. How's that for optimism? ;-)

Welcome home. I had an almost hour long commute when I lived in SoCal. I lived on the very edge of Escondido. In the early evening I could sit on my deck and gaze out at the mountains while smoking. It was very serene. Damn coyotes outside my back fence sometimes kept me awake at night though!

Welcome Gecko,
I have a 40 min, commute, not long enough for a cigar :-( But I can smoke at work, and smoke on my deck overlooking the lake, or in my office, as we speak, typing on this forum.
Hope you enjoy it here :-)
By the way I used to have that 1 1/2 hour commute, when I lived in Montana.
Glad to be in Arkansas Now.
Later

p.s. Watch out for flying dogrockets.

Let's answer some questions. First off sad to say that my dog Esther (7 year old Beagle) passed away this morning. She had been having some problems with her Spleen. Buried her this morning and smoked a Montecristo VillaNeuva in her honor. I have not seen these anywhere except at the "outlet store" that I purchased them from. She was a good dog with my kids. They'll be looking for her tonight.

Believe it or not I'm in North Carolina. most of the 1.5 hrs is purely distance, only ~10 minutes extra due to traffic. Go where the work is. Besides the distance I pass by the above mentioned "outlet store" twice a day. I've recently discovered better deals at C-Bid. Awaiting my first weeks winners. (Cusano Corojo Toro, Bohemian Red North Beach, and The Cigar).
Be good!

Welcoome to the board geckoheart!

Let me say that I am sorry to hear about your dog passing away. As much as our pets can be a pain sometimes, I dread the time when Duke passes away on me. He has helped me thru so many difficult situations, more than I care to remember, that I have come to love him and he is more than just a dog to me.

I hope you can explain what happened to him to your children without any difficulties.

Again, welcome!
Matt

Only women use Beano. Men on the other hand will purposely eat any and all food that will make them fart profusely. X

Welcome aboard fellow stick lover. Sorry about your pooch. I am lucky enought to spend my entire shift in my car so I enjoy at least one cigar a day while driving around. As far as the temperature, I am north of the border and it is currently about minus 20 celcius, which is about minus 6 farenheit. We are relegated to having garage parties in the winter months with propane heaters and blankets, but, we are still smoking which is all that matters. Oh well, here is to warmer days within a month or 6 weeks. Enjoy, I have tried many sources for my puros and found that Cbid is the absolute cheapest way to go, especially for us over-taxed Canucks. I wish I knew what the heck they were doing with all that cash they collect on taxes. They sure as hell arent spending it on our military. Keep bidding.
