I've found Thomas Friedman's columns to be a very good source of reasoned analysis on that part of the world. His view on a war with Iraq (we need to do it, but only if we're going to do it right) has always been my feeling, but I'm not nearly as articulate as he is.

Hey, JReddoch, can you cut and paste that article or send me a copy? Just couldn't face signing up for one more source (NYTimes)that respects my privacy but wants to know all about me, income, next planned purchase, etc. Wait a minute. Will I get the Saturday and Sunday crossword puzzles? LMK. May change my mind. lol
