Last night as he accepted an Oscar for a documetary short subject, Director Michael Moore felt compelled to offer some remarks other than a thank you ...

He attacked the President and the war effort in what I found to be an ugly and, IMO, unpatriotic manner ...

I plan to write him and tell him of my reactions to what he had to say and to advise him that I and as many others I can ifluence will boycott his Oscar winning short and any and all other work he ever does ...

If you too would like to offer him feedback on his remarks, his e-mail address is:

Sedition Act, 1918
From The United States Statutes at Large, V. 40. (April 1917-March 1919). Washington: Government Printing Office, 1919. 553-554.

"...whoever shall by word or act support or favor the cause of any country with which the United States is at war or by word or act oppose the cause of the United States therein, shall be punished by a fine of not more than $10,000 or the imprisonment for not more than twenty years, or both"

As I said last night ... the man is guilty of treason and should be imprisioned, not offered praise for his inflamatory anti-US remarks ...

donutboy2000 --- First of all, is this preposterous law still on the books? Was it ever struck down?
Can someone still be punished for criticizing the government?

And how in the world could such a patently unconstitutional law ever be upheld by the supreme court? This has got to be one of the most repressive acts made by the government to protect its own intrests.

Presidential Candidate Eugene Debs was charged with that act during the 1920 election when he ran for President. He subsequently received a pardon from President Harding ...

There has not been one case on file since then ...

Way to go Rick, once again you stand on the wrong side of the aisle! As I have said in the past you should stick to hummingbirds and bidding on cheap cigars!

Your email was probably the only supporting email or letter he got all damn day long!

Slim,
Yes, thank God that we live in America.

Why did you choose this post to make that statement?
