This is the #2 banded smoke in the line of 10 mystery smokes so graciously given to me by our good friend penguin13.
#2 is a torp about 6x52. The bunch was firm but not packed too tight indicative of how light in weight it was. Nicely constructed light brown wrapper. This one is throwing me off. First indication is a Monty #2 ISOM. I'll get to that later.
I ran this one under the proboscis and it definitely smacked of a little spice; not much but it's there. Clipped the head with my SAK. Nice clean cut. Toasted the foot and after a few bursts of flame this one was smokin!
Easy draw, reasonable amount of smoke. Mild to medium bodied the first inch. Woody but pleasant. I'm not too fond of wood (unless it's my own but I digress).
#2 built up to a straightforward medium body all the way through. Uneven burn but nothing to be alarmed about. Didn't correct although I could have. White ash.
The white ash and lighter than usual color for an ISOM Monty 2 led me to conclude this was not a Monty. And the taste just wasn't there unless this one was young. I've bought young Montys before which is why my first indication, but the wrapper color...and the ash is just too white for an ISOM...
I'm going to guess this is a corojo torp only because of the hint of spice in the wrapper. I can't imagine it being a Monty 2 ISOM...
