Watching "Nightline..." and holding my nose. I've had free cable for 3 years, but I think Comcast finally caught up with me :-)

So I only get ABC through the antenna affect through the cable, until I call them and buy it.

So Ted Kopel comes on, and has some foreign reporter doing a monologue. They're showing scenes of the market place that was hit with an explosive device. And lamenting the fate of these poor poor people. Interviewing them and showing pictures of people being carried away on streachers and saying over and over, how could the US do this? What possible military significance could this have? These people are just trying to live their lives, and on and on and on...

I was APPAULED!! It was as if Ted Koppel was Sadam's hand puppet! How many freeking missiles and bombs have we launched in there? How much collateral damage has their been? CLEARLY the US is 1,000,000 times more concerned about collateral damage than ANYONE else is or ever has been. It was clear and total Iraqi propaganda, straight from Sadam's mouth to our ears on national TV... Disgraceful. They didn't mention the fact that Iraq has strategically positioned all of their military command and control right next to schools, mosques, hospitals, etc... It's quite literally a miracle that more incidents haven't occurred. And, it remains to be seen that they didn't blow it up themselves... It certainly would be within the capability of their depraved minds.

ABC can BITE ME!!!!!!! The ONLY reason I was watching it is because it's the only channel I can get till they turn my cable back on. I want my MTV and FOX NEWS!!

I know what you mean Robby, that's show biz. I watched Dan Rather tonight and it was all about how the war is tougher than expected -- as if anybody expected a slam dunk. Those news guys want to paint everything grim. Grim keeps people watching. I don't let it piss me off. I just consider the source and understand that these people are playing for ratings.

By the way I never saw anybody look so silly as Ted Kopel wearing the helmet and combat gear.

They are now saying it was an Iraqi missle that fell short, NOT one of ours, but I am sure that will be just a foot note and not as widely broadcast.

Koppel looks as silly as George Dukakis looked when he put on the helment and googles and rode around in the Abrams tank!

Koppel is a very unfair journalist when it comes to reporting the truth...just reports "the truth as he sees it"!

Peter Jennings is the worst. His reports just drip with disgust for this country. Hey, I wasn't a fan of this policy when it was in the discussion stage, but now that the lead is flying our troops deserve our full support. I'm not asking for him to be a cheerleader but, we should at least get objectivity.

I guess it's nice that we have those choices in our semi-free market system.

Peter Jennings is a high school drop out from Canada, so what do you expect.

That may be but nonetheless he is an articulate and intelligent man. Enough to be aware of his own biases, at least, and supress them for a few hours a week. Though, I guess it plays to a certain audience.

Believe it or not, with the diversity of personalities, topics and so on here, I get most of my news here on the boards.

I detest! the newscasters...

If there is enough of a stir here, I'll check out msnbc.com or cnn.com or whatever...

I liked things boiled down...without commercials...without the newscasters personal opinions and agendas...
