My fax machine died 2 days ago.

I hate my printer.

I don't have a scanner.

I have an ancient Xerox machine.

My question is this...

Is there a great all-in-one type machine that any of you could recommend from personal experience? Or am I stuck with equipment all over my desk???

I do some printing, copying and faxing daily from my home office and would like something that is just a bit beefier than most of the little machines that you can buy seperately.

Cost? Anything under $1000.00.

HELP! I NEED IT NOW!

Get a Brother Laser Many models in different price points. Do not get an inkjet due to constant replacing of cartridges.

check www.cnet.com for an all in one printer, they have reviews and ratings so you can get a good idea of what will fill your needs.

Maybe check "techtv" web site, plenty of geekers there.
They picked a HP psc 2210 for $299.00 in a recent "Roundup" on "Multifunction Printers".

If U like it... just credit my C-bid account with a couple of the seven Benjamins U saved.

Ha ha..., no really send CASH!! Hurry!

BTW, if you do a lot of Faxes, double check how it handles multiple pages b/c standing around scanning page by page, one by one, (like my freebie stand alone scanner from DELL) is no fun.

Thanks Husker and Doboy!!!

I found one called the Brother MFC-9700 that I will compare to the one that Doc posted...

Also, I'm moving on to Chris and Kodiak's sites...

I need to purchase one in the next day or two at the most! Great info!

God, if we EVER got together...be afraid, be very afraid!

I think that I'm just going to have go with the Brother or the closest thing at Office Depot...I need it...

My only other question now is, do I need the PhotoCapture Center on the MFC-9200c if I already have PhotoShop and such on my computer? The price is $349 for this 6-in-1, and $499 for the 5-in-1 MFC-9700.

I'm sure that the price difference should be a no-brainer, but if the 9700 has some better specs, like dual sided copying, what do you think?

The 9200c does do color, but it's an inkjet...the other is a laser - which is what I want...

Thanks for pointing that out! I hadn't noticed...

I'm sure you've already considered the fact that when one thing breaks, you conveniently lose all six for the duration of any off-site repairs.

E--- it's convenient, but when you get a 5 in 1 machine you get a machine that does a lot, but doesn't do it all very well.

If you aren't too concerned with photo quality copies or lineless printing or sharp faxes then the 5 in 1 will do an okay job at all the above but not great.

I am pressed for space and would have one, but you have to go well over the $1000 range to get one that does all as well as the individual pieces.

Considering everything...and the fact that my back went out and the family is in the desert for the weekend...I haven't moved!!!

UGH! I just HATE when that happens!

CigarRick and Rayder: I owe BOTH of you a big "thank you" for the advice. It sounds like you've had some experience with this.

I think that you are correct. I will just have to start my search all over for the items that I need. The FAX is the #1 quest at the moment.

E...we bought a scanner that is real great at Office Max...$89 out the door with a $40 rebate, Does fax as well. HP Printers run in the $300 to $500 range and are phenominal at photo quality. You can get a fax for $200 or so and still have enough left for a box of Monte's.
