This was the #3 stick in a series of 10 mystery sticks sent by penguin13.

#3 was about 6.5x40. Square pressed lancero. Nice wrapper and well made cap. Nice color and sheen on the wrapper and not veiny at all; surprised at the deep red color of the wrapper yet it didn't provide much in the way of prelight aroma.

Clipped, toasted and lit. Nice easy draw; fair amount of smoke. Mild but built to medium. Medium gray ash burned crooked at first but evened out nicely. Fell about 1.5 into the smoke.

Rather one dimensional but solid mild to low medium body. At first thought it was very similar to a Vega Talanga in color but that's where the similarities ended.

Not a bad smoke but just a tad too mild. Only developed to somewhat of a medium-body toward the end. On a scale of 1-10 penguins, #3 rates 5 penguins.

What is it?

That my friend was a Dos Rios Extra. Funny thing about that smoke; I was in a local tobacco shop in chicago and they had that cigar going for $5.95!! The sun grown Fuentes weren't even that much in the same shop. I think I won that five pack for something like $6 about 4 months ago. Nice review JD, as usual, and looking forward to hearing about #4.

Keep them coming guys. This beats the hell out of reality tv. Never had a Dos Rios, but now I won't be rushing out to find one either. I smell a primo coming soon.

Interesting ...

I've got one burning right now ... although this one is the 7x50 Esplendido ... I'd have characterized it as being closer to medium-bodied with a medium+ finish ... it has been completely even burning throughout, but I take great pains to be sure a cigar is evenly lit to begin with ... draw is smooth and easy, without being completely free (too easy) and I have found the satisfaction rate to be very high ... on a price-performance basis, I'd say this one is highly recommeneded and is one I will certainly buy more of ...
