WAR WATCH

Soldiers Facing Death Asked to Pray For Bush

"They may be the ones facing danger on the battlefield, but US soldiers in Iraq are being asked to pray for President George W Bush.
Thousands of marines have been given a pamphlet called "A Christian's Duty," a mini prayer book which includes a tear-out section to be mailed to the White House pledging the soldier who sends it in has been praying for Bush.

"I have committed to pray for you, your family, your staff and our troops during this time of uncertainty and tumult. May God's peace be your guide," says the pledge, according to a journalist embedded with coalition forces.

The pamphlet, produced by a group called In Touch Ministries, offers a daily prayer to be made for the US president, a born-again Christian who likes to invoke his God in speeches.

Sunday's is "Pray that the President and his advisers will seek God and his wisdom daily and not rely on their own understanding".

Monday's reads 'Pray that the President and his advisers will be strong and courageous to do what is right regardless of critics.'" --abc, 03.30.03

I also believe in prayer. I pray for our military all the time.

About them praying for Bush, it cant hurt, and will help those who feel like prayer is missing from thier lives at this time. I bet that most of them do pray already though.

If a one of our military folks dont feel comfortable doing it, then they shouldnt have to, or they can pray to thier own god if thier religious beliefs are different.

I will continue to pray for our military, and Bush.

Believe it or not, I pray for all of you out here in these forums. You are my online family & friends!

So, God bless all of you!

God bless all our troops and our members of our government. I too pray for all our troops, for our leadership, our nation and all nations in this world.
God bless all or you too! Prayer in whatever form or religion conducted, is the answer.

For those that believe, no explanation is necessary...
For those that don't believe, no explanation will do...

i was not against the praying, but the organized suggestion to do so. and as we all should know, the tear outs are being checked by some big brother.

i thank you all that pray for me, because you are doing something of your own wish and kindness.

"i was not against the praying, but the organized suggestion"... so are you implying that you are against organized religion? Do you know if the government is paying to print and distribute the information or is it a private concern? Your post doesn't indicate which but would seem to appear that the printing is paid for by a private group. If the costs are paid for by a private organization I don't see the problem. And you indicate that "big brother" is monitoring the results... which department would that be... give me a web-site, telephone number, address, anything that we can check those numbers... what use is that information... are we taking those b*st*rds out that don't pray and shoot them... what is the penalty for failing to toe the line.... damn I'm scared now...

I kind of felt like asking a guy who is staring death in the face to pray for the President is kind of strange. If it was me, I would pray that God guide my hand, give me courage, keep me from harm. GWB would not be part of it. I don't think prayers are cumulative either. One prayer from someone sincere and in need is better than 50,000 prayers from the general population. But that's my opinion, I understand that I could be wrong.

i am, but this in not an example. some ministry has printed the prayer books and paid for them with donations, i'm sure. and i believe they were mailed at their expense, but if distributed by the military, a different story.

what would they be praying for bush. health, ok. wealth, he already stole that. guidance to bring the troops home safely, too late. i believe he said he has god's blessing to go to war, or something as stupid as that.

so what should be asked of god in bush's behalf?

Rick, I'm not sure if you were raised Christian or have ever studied Christianity. The bible very clearly instructs Christians to pray for their leaders. Didn't you know this?
