I received my box of JDNA's today... Smoked one OTT. Kicked like a mule! It was harsher than he double L for the 1st 1/2 inch or so, then it mellowed "a bit". Please tell me these wonderful cigars will be smoother and mellower in a year? Who here has aged some of these powerful beauties?

I've had a couple. They will be smoother with time. Mellow is not a word I'm sure I'd use!

I would not use mellow for the Joyas after any amount of time. They are the kick butt cigar when you want to just lay back and really feel the cigar as it rocks your world.

Just got a whole box of belecosos. Had one Friday while playing a round of golf... great cigar! Got a few of the Grand Consuls taking a nap right now. I believe that they are a little more powerful but both are great cigars.

I'm guessing the Ligero they use will mellow out in about a year or so. At least I'm hoping it will. X

Them's good gars. By a whisker, but not by much, I am leaning toward the La Flor Dominicana Ligero just now when I feel like abusing myself. And, yeah, 6 months or a year will do 'em good, no doubt.

I'll check mine again next week!
I can't keep my hands off of them, yet I know that 6 months should be a good start. By that time, I'll be ready to order another box.

I bought two boxes when they were first released, both Grand Consuls, because that's the only size I could obtain. When I opened the first box, my nose said, "delicious." I hadn't had such a wonderful fragrance come from anything other than a box of aged Habanos. The first stick was a semi-surprise. I expected power, but because these were a little damp, they seemed a bit harsh. I let them rest for a month, dry boxed a couple days, and tried again. Definite progress! By three months they were outstanding, but, frankly, still a little too strong for my personal taste.

On New Year's Eve, I brought the remainder of the first box to a party to share with friends. Everyone seemed to really like them, though one fellow looked like he'd turn green halfway through his stick. One of the guests, visiting from Canada, said he'd never had a Nicaraguan cigar. A two cigar per week smoker, he said he always bought Cubans. He validated my own opinion that while these are full bodied cigars and a pleasure to smoke, they don't really taste much like Cubans. My second box, less one stick, is at rest for another few months, then I'll try again.
