At the risk of opening up a big can of worms, I cant help but ask a question that has me curious.

I notice a post every now and then that gets yanked because the poster mentioned a competing website, etc. Is there a list somewhere of who the sponsors are? If there is a good deal on the sponsor's site, can we mention it in the forum?

No big deal. Just curious. My inquiring mind wanted to know.

This site is run by Cigars International ie: CI. they are a retailer of cigars, therefore have no sponsorship but maintain the site on their own.

I'm not sure what gets yanked, though i just had one that got pulled down, it was a web site that had a few links to cigar companies CAO, Bucanero, Torano (no retailers) and it got yanked. I'd still really appriciate any feedback if anyone wouldn't mind looking at the site. e-mail me at aczapla (at) istate (dot) edu

But, I'm sure he will answer this to your satisfaction.

Steve is the new board monitor, but he's got a few days off to celebrate his birthday! (Feel free to post all those happy birthday wishes.) So I'll field this one.

* In a nutshell, since this site is hosted by a cigar company, don't mention our competitors.
* If you THINK it may be a competitor, don't mention it.
* If you point people to a website that has links to our competitors, don't mention it.
* Be nice to each other.

Simple, huh?

For those of you who don't BELIEVE me and the Reader's Digest condensed version, here's a lovely cut/paste of the information that can be found at the entrance to the forum!!

Trish - I heard from a reliable source that CI buys some of it's stock from competitors. Is there any truth to this?

Good point Chris, but my guess would be ... that once they have them in stock, that site then becomes CI/CB's competition ... LOL!

Most distributors buy from various sources, whoever offers the lowest prices and cuts the best deals. Most of the time it's accomplished direct with manufacturers. Yet from time to time cigar dealers buy and sell amongst each other. If one gets a deal, it often gets horse-traded around to a couple other dealers too. With a few glaring exceptions, competitors are fairly collegial.
