Partagas Short cabinet 04
Date reviewed 7/14/05
Nice caramel colored wrapper, no large veins, and a perfect triple cap. The construction is impeccable, with no soft spots. Prelight aroma is definitely barnyard. After a nice clean cut, with my cheap double bladed cutter, I toast the foot and take my first draw. Yep definitely a partagas, very spicy from the first puff. Definite Cuban whang, on a leathery base. About a ½” in, the cigar gets really creamy, but still has a nice spice. Like cinnamon ice cream eaten out of a baseball mitt. j/k
I don’t know, I taste leather cinnamon, and cream, so I guess I really wasn’t joking.
At the 1” point, the black/grey ash is holding strong, and the flavors are becoming more assertive. My tongue is tingling, like my taste buds are throwing a party. The flavors of cream, leather, and cinnamon, are getting more intense. In one sense the flavors never change, so it could be considered “one Dimensional” but the way they gain intensity, is impressive. I am really enjoying this cigar, especially considering how young it is.
On a 5 point scale, I would give this smoke a 4.1, for it’s superior construction, and a great flavor. It might have been one dimensional, but what a dimension. I am glad these come in cabinets of 50, so maybe I will have a couple of these get some age on them before they are all gone.
