What Todd said. Personally, I'd start with an 80% lower and work from there.
Parts are a bit scarce as Jamie points out, but can be found and something decent built nonetheless. But will agree if you find one available you like, pull the trigger... so to speak. |

Don’t go cheap on the BCG, upper or barrel and the rest buy to your preference.
Aero makes a very good lower for a very fair price.
Faxon barrels can be had on sale.
BCG you want to see what material it’s made from and the finish.
13.7” barrel plus welded and pinned comp/FS should get you past 16” negating the need for pistol or SBR stamp. |

I always get stripped lowers marked as "other" that way there is no need to worry about going from a pistol to rifle and back.

I decided on the Ruger 556 and picked it up yesterday. Even with 20 and 12 percent MIL discounts with Wilson and Daniel"s, just more than I wanted to spend at this point in my life. If I like the Ruger well enough I may try a build in the not to distant future. |
