This is the artistic ashtray that TMCTLT made and donated for auction to the OpFTH CAT fundraiser. I was the lucky winner.

Let's see how many of the bands we can name

The resolution isn't great on my screen but I think I can make out Dutch master, swisher, Philly and backwoods

Very nice indeed. Would it be wrong to want to hang it up on the wall for all to see?

Versus what, setting it out for everyone to USE???

Delta the big shot, eh? With your fancy ashtray and carerra marble countertops. Just who do you think you are?
17. Author: delta1Date: Sat, 8/8/2015, 12:24PM EST
lol...Big shot? hahaha....more "shot" than "Big"...

Who said anything about not using it? Just clean it out and hang it back up when not being used.
19. Author: delta1Date: Sat, 8/8/2015, 1:07PM EST
That sounds like too much work...especially for someone as lazy as me. I empty an ashtray before every smoking session, but I'll clean it when it needs polishing up and put it back on the patio table.
20. Author: sd72Date: Sat, 8/8/2015, 1:18PM EST
Just tell your man servant to polish it and put it back on the wall when you're done. No big deal.

I made a nice wind chime out of the wooden tips I took off of my favorite sticks

Where's the look of disdain, holding your head, while shaking it smiley?

This is a marble counters, and woodworking thread. The wind chime thread is in the politics section.

Wow, TMCTLT, that ashtray is AWESOME! BigGrin. It looks so cool. I'm always looking for new things to do with my bands. Hate through them away when they are so eye appealing. What next on your things to create using bands? Anxious ThumpUp

This idea came about several years ago when I first participated in the CAT ( cigar a thon ) fundraiser wherein both $$ and cigars are collected to help the OPfth organization which sends care pckges to our Men n Women in the Armed Services. I try to provide one of these annually for auction. Since then I've made and traded or sold a couple dozen of these in varying sizes /shapes and wood species which are all over the US. Thanks for your kind words! Beer

You are most welcome. I just did a modge podge mason jar and now my father and I (both welders, he retired and I out of commission) are trying to make a top to be as if it were an ashtray. Still in the trial and error process but once completed I will be sure to post a picture Wink

it sure is, Paul. I had to rescue it from the outdoor patio...sitting in the hot sun for a couple of years dried and faded the wood, so I sanded it and then applied several coats of varnish to restore the glow. It's now being used in the man cave.
