Not being into dyed cigars, I think you won't find me bidding against you

steves, aren't most maduros dyed?
6. Author: lofty1Date: Tue, 5/24/2005, 8:40AM EST
i'm sorry. i thought most dark maduros were dyed to some degree.

Very bad cigar in my opinion. The wrapper wouldn't burn on the one I tried. I kept at it for about 15 minutes then I threw it out. Draw was tight, burn way off and taste was horrible. I hope you have a better time with them than I did.

Fidalgo Negro...made the mistake of buying a box out of curiosity...smoked one and discovered that my lips were black...gave the rest away

Maduro will darken during the curing process depending on how the leaves are bundled, the temperature, and the hue of the liquid that's used. Rolando Reyes Sr.'s maduros; Cuba Aliados, Puros Indios, Genuine are fermented to maduro without darkening. The M is indistinguishable from N, E, and CC only by taste. The doble maduro appears rosado.

There are some manufacturers who actually use dye to achieve maduro and oscuro. You may have heard of one reknown manufacturer whose nickname is El Pintar. Of course the dyed maduro is maduro is color only.

They are trash! They are dyed black and if it is humid outside and you are smoking one, it turns your fingers, mouth and tounge black! What a POS!

I'm not fond of them, but they never did bleed on me. Hopefully you don't take these opinions too much to heart. If you like them, you'll get them cheap, and enjoy them. There are a number of cigars that I quite like, that I keep to myself so I don't have to suffer the littany of gagging noises.

i had a second one and my cheeks caved in trying to smoke the damn thing. now i see what you guys were saying on HARD draw. Taste- not so bad. but hella draw. then again my taste buds might be ruined from all the jim beam.

I like 'em, actually. I live where it's fairly cool most of the year, and have never had one "bleed" on me before. I do remember the draw being tight though, but not too tight to smoke.

I just smoked one that had been sitting in my humi for a few months at 63/65%. I know I am in the minority here, but I thought it was a very tasty smoke. It drew very easily, burned cool, and had a lot of taste, with a pepper spice note. I didn't have any bleeding problems, either lips or hand.
I am curious--I did a quick google search to see if I could find anything, besides various forum postings, on it being dyed black. Can anyone point me to something on that? Thanks, Bill

Bill...no manufacturer is going to admit that they use colored additives to the water used in the maduro fermentation process. It would be akin to meeting a beautiful woman at a singles dance who confesses to be a married cross dresser.

I just received a few of these Fidalgos in a sampler pack. Not the worst cigar I have smoked, and definitely no where near the best. It burned and drew well, but there is some sort of aftertaste that I can't describe.

I will smoke the rest of them in my sampler pack, and not order them again.

haha, the first description I could find (emphasis added by me):
