Bond, James Bond

Saw the new Batman movie last night. During the previews they showed a trailer for the upcoming Bond movie. Don't know what the general concenus is around here, but since Tubby Broccolli died IMHO I think the subsequent 007 movies have been a disaster. Don't get me wrong, as a non-bond movie I think they were as good as anything else out there. They just are NOT Bond movies.

Regardless of whether you liked them all or not, all of the previous Bonds had style and were are always able to maintain some sort of control even when not in control. Daniel Craig's version of Bond seems to be a man on a collision course with destruction.

My 2 cents

Connery was the best , Craig is 2nd and emulates Connery without the humor.

Personally i would like to see Craig Fergeson do Bond..

Connery was great!
Craig did just fine.

Connery was Bond, no doubt. Just the way they made the movies then, kinda cheesy.

Daniel Craig seems more like a person, instead of a persona that Connery did.

I'd still watch both.

Exactly my point. As long a Broccoli was making the Bond movies, Bond was a persona. It's what made those movies different than every other "spy" movie out. Sadly it seems Bond has become exactly what Broccoli had avoided for two generations.

I'm not saying I haven't enjoyed the the Craig Era Bond movies, I have. In fact, I've enjoyed ever Daniel Craig movie I've seen including "The Girl with ...."

Read the books. Once you do, the movies are just a pale shadow.

I have to say, that I personally like Connery as Bond the best. However, Craig plays bond more like the way he is described in the books. He may tend to play the reckless part of the character a bit hard, but is otherwise pretty accurate. Other than the showering thing. In the books, Bond showers like 10 times per day. It is almost amazing that he got anything else done.

I think Craig is the best Bond since Connery and the first movie he was in Casino Royale was amazing. The second movie he did Quantum of Solace was just okay but I blame that on the writer/director/editor not his acting. I like his portrayal of Bond a lot.

What I like about Roger Moore and Pierce Brosnan as Bonds, is they smoked cigars instead of nasty cigarettes.

Awesome point.

Bond was a human chameleon...not a peacock like it was portrayed in the movies. His ability to be "everyman" was his gift. He was able to meld into whatever situation he found himself in...very hard to do that with a white tuxedo carrying around a martini in one hand and a laser carrying Rolex with the other!

All in all Connery will be best rememberd for James Bond. Craig is doing a stellar job breathing new life into a character that had become a joke.

I'll still watch the movies, doesn't matter who plays the lead role...some are just more memorable viewing more than 2 times!

"Craig plays bond more like the way he is described in the books"....... Agreed but as DMV says no one has reall hit the "human chameleon" aspect....

I put in a request from the library for “Casino Royale” and intend to read the series in the order of their release.

You'll be rewarded and understand that the 007 designation...was someone else's before him...and it'll be someone else's after him. You only live twice.
