For some reason this is hard to find in Hawaii. I used to buy this for a good friend of mine every year for his birthday, but I haven't been able to find it the past two years. Rajib at County Line Liquors told me that it is no longer in production. On a side note . . . About 3 or 4 years ago, I decided to step up my game and give him something a little better. After some very insightful input from the drunkards here at CBid, I decided to go with a bottle of Elijah Craig. I gave him the bottle of E.C. and was quite anxious to see what he thought of it. After some prodding, he opened it and got himself a large tumbler from the shelf and filled it with ice. Took the E.C. and poured in about 2 or 3 ounces and THEN . . . topped it off with Pepsi Cola ! |

True Blue Cask Strength 62.2% was one of them, I never saw it around here but did get a bottle of Baby Blue, a somewhat lower abv whiskey. Their "thing" is using blue corn and some other innovations, all that I've had have been high quality, and none are bargain priced. Both were what I call head snapping strong, like the rum they make. Good old mikey sent me a bottle of one of the Balcones offerings, I believe purchased when he and tyyler visited the distillery in Texas. I don't recall if it was the rum, the rumble or one of the whiskeys. they also make an American single malt whisky. |

And my monthly drive by... I had some Old Forester 1910 the other weekend. I'd buy it at $45 bucks or whatever the sale price was but probably not MSRP. It had a very distinct interesting flavor component that I couldn't quite put my finger on, some have likened it to dusty bourbon (I haven't had much) as well as strong red fruit maybe cherries. Pretty good **** even with the lower proof than the 1920. I can't member what else I had to drink lately but the 1910 stood out. Whistlebritches wrote:The mash bills that have escaped me are the O's.......OESO and OBSO.If you run across them keep me in mind.Let me know which ones you haven't tried and I'll do the same. I may be able to assist in this endevour next time I hunt around. There is one place in Indy that still has reasonable prices ~55$ before tax and keeps a variety of recipes in stock. Everyone else has skyrocketed the price and sells them out instantly =( I was super surprised to just find a bottle of a recipe I was missing out in San Diego for like 50 before tax can't member what recipe now. I've got at least one of every recipe at home now except for... OBSK and OBSO i think. ALways drink through my OBSKs fast. They heard it from me standing in Roy's Liquors in Vegas.... actually they probaly heard it numerous times lol The "barrel proof" was a typo after having about 4 fingers of 120 proof single barrel Knob Creek 14yr it is a store pick though.....he started with about 200 bottles and the chit flew off the shelf... I knew I should've got more than 1 bottle. |
