Just received an e-mail about this from our Big Red Liquors warehouse...I've tried Dragons Milk but not this version

RARE ALERT: New Holland Rsv Dragon's Milk Mexican Spice Cake 4pk

The new Dragon's Milk Reserve release from New Holland may be their most successful variant to date. The Mexican Spice cake refers to the addition of chilies, vanilla, and cinnamon. The beer is aged for 3 months in bourbon barrels with toasted chilies, cocoa nibs, vanilla beans, and cinnamon. Weighing in at 11%, Mexican Spice Cake is an exercise in massive beer flavor. The normal chocolate character from the stout is accented and enhanced by the savory and sweet additions. It's earthy, rich, and ethereal all at the same time. Even at such a high ABV, this one is tough to put down.

$18.00 for a friggin four pack......this must be some sort of Elitist beer fog

Not a fan of the Dragon's Milk. I'll be up there June 5-8 this year so I'll get a chance to check out some of their new stuff off the tap. I wish my work trip was a little longer to catch their 20th anniversary street party. fog

I don't know if you would care for it with it being an IPA. It is a decent to good beer (9.4 abv) and I would purchase again but it is not one that I would spend time looking for.

I checked the Founder's web site and it is not currently listed. Another link indicates that it's availability varies.

I'm still trying a smattering of IPAs but have not found one I would purchase again yet. Some of the east coast "juicy" styles with lower IBU come closest for me.

Can't stand IPA's. I have only had a couple that I liked. Just not a fan of the strong hops. Blech.

Should have a good array of beers this weekend.

I would recommend IPAs that use a lot of citra hops. Happens to be my favorite hop but besides that it has a citrus taste that goes with the bitterness of the hops which I think tends to make it less of an in your face bitterness. Also, I found when I got into drinking IPAs that the doubles and triples were less bitter as well and slowly went from those to acquire a taste for them. 90 minute by DFH is one that I feel doesn't smack you in the face with bitterness.
