If only you were this optimistic about the country and your fellow, pre-zombies humans.

On a more (un) serious note: I don't know if 'zombies' dedicate or not I think they are continuously rotting and losing parts. I'm not sure if they would change if they were well fed.

Ha!
They were too stupid to even know what they were protesting.

I have no patience for stupidity.
You have conviction? Great. I might disagree but we can at least have discourse.
But praying while you're supposed to be protesting?
I mean, at least hate trump a little.
Don't ruin it by praying.

Geeesh.

Trump may have been just a catalyst...I don't see any posts talking about the owners, who each kicked in a cool million to The Donald and now say how disturbing his words are, being trashed like the athletes.

Are the owners not as fortunate as the players to have made fortunes in this great country? Are the monetarily fortunate supposed to give up their rights?

Some say they are praying, I don't question it, I don't call them dumb. I think these people are pretty aware, whether right or wrong, of exactly what they are doing and why.
Perhaps some of us are too angry and hurt to understand and it's easier to insult than listen.

Praying?
None of this had anything to do with praying.

Why pray DURING the Anthem?

Here's what the game operations manual says regarding the national anthem, according to an NFL spokesperson:

The National Anthem must be played prior to every NFL game, and all players must be on the sideline for the National Anthem. During the National Anthem, players on the field and bench area should stand at attention, face the flag, hold helmets in their left hand, and refrain from talking. The home team should ensure that the American flag is in good condition. It should be pointed out to players and coaches that we continue to be judged by the public in this area of respect for the flag and our country. Failure to be on the field by the start of the National Anthem may result in discipline, such as fines, suspensions, and/or the forfeiture of draft choice(s) for violations of the above, including first offenses.

It's in their own operations manual. Hypocrites. Period.

I've been having a lot of trouble with this one the past couple days. I'd seen this posted by a "friend" on facebook before you mentioned it, and despite him having more questionable ideals than Tail, he seemed to think it was fake after a couple posts.

I tried tracking it back... it comes from a single article in Times, where they report "according to an NFL spokesman". Snopes is 50:50 on it, simply because they have no further evidence. I'm honestly not sure if it's true or not.

I can tell you with certainty that if Times reported "according to an NFL spokesman" on something you didn't agree with you'd refuse to believe it without seeing the document. And then someone here would say the document was forged.

I will say, to support the idea that the Operations manual may actually say that (or something similar) is the other point (which I also need documentation on) that the government began paying the NFL money in 2009 to have the players on the field for the national anthem. Now, if the NFL did actually contract with the government for this, I can see it being likely that an operations manual would instruct the players to be present (to protect the NFL from some breach of contract). However, IF that is the case, the wording of the operations manual is way more vague than I would expect. If you're trying to avoid breach of contract you don't say "should stand at attention"...

Longwinded ... TL/DR... I'm not 100% sure we should rest an argument on that statement.

"It appears some fans are confusing the league rulebook for the NFL Game Operations Manual, which includes nearly 200 pages of procedures and policy for regular-season games. Among the arcane details: each team must provide 600 towels and 500 pounds of ice to the visiting team.

In an email, Brian McCarthy, the NFL’s vice president of communications, shared the portion of the manual that addresses the anthem, and that language is what has been shared on social media but mistakenly attributed to the rulebook.

McCarthy stressed that passage about the national anthem is a guideline and not a requirement. The key words in the operations manual are “should” and “may” and not “must.” No player is required to stand at attention.

That’s why the league has never issued a punishment for a player who didn’t follow the recommendation.

“There is no discipline being considered for any action yesterday,” McCarthy said Monday.

Troy Vincent, the NFL’s executive vice president of football operations, told The Sporting News in March that “the league didn’t discuss setting a standard protocol for all players during the pregame playing of the anthem.”

That Sporting News story said Vincent told Vic Carucci and Alex Marvez: “Frankly, the players have that right. They’re asked (to stand), but not required.”

When former San Francisco quarterback Colin Kaepernick sat down during the playing on the national anthem last year, the NFL issued this statement said the same thing: “Players are encouraged but not required to stand during the playing of the national anthem.”"

My understanding is the rule book governs player behavior etc. The operations manual is just that... an operations manual for the teams.

It all just comes down to political correctness and the incessant demand for PC from many in here.

It’s also worth pointing out this is the same NFL that fines players for wearing the wrong color socks or bringing onto the field a towel that is not licensed by the NFL.

In any event, we should dispense with the idea that NFL players enjoy some magical constitutional right to express themselves during pre-game ceremonies. They don’t.

That's actually beneficial when you are shooting weak hand, unsupported. The recoil will only turn your wrist, but you remain on target, whereas if you hold the pistol upright... recoil takes you off target to the left.

Lost in all this is the original intent of the kneeling.

Kaepernick has been silent. So much for his crusade.

Those who knelt for the first time last week didn't know why.

Those who stood did so arm and arm. A sign of solidarity. Which is was: Solidarity against Trump's inappropriate tweet.

But the kneeling wasn't supposed to be about solidarity. Or anti-White House.

It was supposed to be about cop-on-black killings.

And for those who think that it's not disrespectful? That it isn't Anti-America ??
Listen to the man himself when he started this posturing:
"I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color."

Kaepernick himself states very clearly that standing up "shows pride".
He's doing the opposite. Which is to say he has no pride in America.

Not my words.
His.

So stop the lunacy.
If you hate America that's your right.
But stop pretending it's anything but what it is.

You probably think he's too dumb to know better because he's black.
