Yeah, MACS....frank...the rest of you sticklers....

I like grammar more than the average person...though maybe not as much as some of you...but I'm about done trying keep some things straight...so lets just call these equal:

further/farther----nobody seems to care any more, and those that do are often wrong anyway

anyway/ anyways....because I still say anyways

and even toward/towards...towards is so ubiquitous now, that it is never going away

I'm not budging on accept/except...or affect/effect...those ARE crucial to meaning

The farther we get from proper English, the closer we move towards the acceptance of the effects of those that are affected by the butchering... except for frank... anyways, frank is good wif werds n stuf, so he might be further offended than most of us and will move toward you with a big a$$ knife... Anyway, you don't want to piss off frank.

well, you're spot on with your assessment that nobody seems to care ... one of the popular game shows on TV has a host whose pronunciation is so bad, losing contestants are frequently given another appearance because they didn't have a clue what the hell the host was saying ... even in his intro, he tells viewers "we've got another good 'un fer ya ... everybody's here tryin' to win theyself a lotta cayesh" ..

small wonder so many are often wrong anyways ...

Proper grammar is the difference between knowing your sh*t and knowing you're sh*t.

Spelling, punctuation and grammar; the difference between helping your uncle, Jack, off a horse... or helping your uncle jack off a horse.

So...in this example: Your helping your uncle Jack...kill a horse? Because without the help of a preposition....you've just helped your uncle " OFF " or....kill his horse. lol

Jack didn't want any help at all.....he didn't even want to get off the horse until after he finished his ridehorse

Yes, at which point you should have helped Jack off the horse...
