Release the FBI memo? Or no?
1. Author: tailgaterDate: Thu, 2/1/2018, 1:08PM EST
This drama is growing old.
Release it. Don't release it.

I understand both sides.
The FBI has a valid point if the memo was altered in a meaningful way.

My biggest question is in regards to the democrats.
Why are they so strongly against the memo's release?
They claim it could be inconsistent or provide inaccuracies.
But where was this concern when the infamous Dossier was released?
Didn't they aggressively embrace every morsel they could? (rhetorical)

Oh, and it appears that the FBI did as well.

These games are moronic and serve no purpose.
People blame President Trump for dividing the nation, but if we locked the doors to congress these two sides would eat other, trump or no trump, if given the chance. And by "given" I mean on a silver platter. Because not one of them on either side has anything close to resembling testicular fortitude.

Some crazy ****....they're talking about a MEMO....a MEMO written by one of them....not talking about 'evidence'....or 'facts'....or stuff from some sort of formal 'discovery'....its a memo written by a Congressman.....wtf....if it doesn't get released....call me ....I'll write one that isn't classified and they can release it...or not...lol

All that said....for someone on the 'Release it!" team to actually EDIT it AFTER committee voted...was fn stupid...I don't care if they changed a comma to a semi colon....that was asinine
3. Author: victor809Date: Thu, 2/1/2018, 1:24PM EST
Yeah... I'm with dstieg on this. The memo would be nothing more than an opinion piece by nunes... just as the opposing memo would be nothing more than an opinion piece.

The downside is we do have a large percentage of our population who would treat the memo as something of value (look at our own forum, where idiots copy/pasta opinion pieces from a "letter to the editor" and think they've made some point... ). The orange moron in charge of the country seems to think it will vindicate him, and it probably will in the eyes of some percentage of his fans.

And the changing of the memo after the vote was super sketchy.
4. Author: DrafterXDate: Thu, 2/1/2018, 1:32PM EST
Yep, because it's been altered it loses credibility... Of course the Democrats didn't believe it had any to start with which is why they've tried so hard to hide it in the past and now cover it up... Mellow

Looks like the white house has sent the memo back with redactions....
6. Author: delta1Date: Thu, 2/1/2018, 1:42PM EST
We should all see it. Then it can be fact checked and evaluated.

The hype by the cons is that it contains info that will prove that the FBI is conducting a sham investigation because of animus against the President. The end result, according to the right, is that the investigation of the Russian interference in the elections of 2016 and the Trump campaign's possible links was biased from the beginning and thus, should be ended.

The left say it is a fabrication made up from tidbits of info in classified documents, taken out of context, omitting material and relevant details pieced together to support the President's contention that the investigation is a witch hunt and should be stopped because of institutional bias and corruption in the FBI.

The FBI and the DOJ say not so fast: the release of the memo causes grave concerns (FBI) and is extremely reckless (Trump's own DOJ).

My take. The man behind the memo is Devin Nunes, who disgraced himself last year trying to prove Trump's claim that "Obama wire-tapped Trump Tower." After that attempt was proven to be a sham, he announced that he was recusing himself from involvement in the Russian investigation being conducted by the House Intelligence committee, which he chairs. This is another misguided attempt by the President's lackey, Nunes, who seems to misunderstand the meaning of recuse, to torpedo the Russian investigation. The memo will be appropriately evaluated. I predict the outcome will be similar to the end result of Nunes' last charade.

In the meantime, the GOP, especially those elected to Congress, the self-proclaimed law and order party, the protectors of the Constitution, stand by as the President, for personal gain, guts and smears the top law enforcement agency of our nation, undermining its credibility in ways that will do lasting and unforeseen damage.

Doesn't matter what happens, those that hate Trump will still hate, those that love America will just find out what we already know about DC

I heard they took out 12 references to "the GREATEST President ever", 7 references to "Trump is the best" and 9 references to "that b!*ch, Hillary" because they made the memo look too obvious...

The source information is not available to us, rightfully so. This is an opinion piece by Nunes' staff (he's not seen the source info either apparently). We will not be able to ascertain accuracy which is sort of the intent behind nunes' tactic.

The FBI's concern is not about the memo being altered, its that it does not match up to the source intel and does not paint the whole picture. Nunes has done similar before and will do similar again. He will go down in history as a despicable character.

Has anyone ever actually listened to Carter Paige or realized he was being watched as a possible Russian spy well before the dossier was a squirt flying out of the republican oppo research wallet and later continued by the dems?

This is a complete farce and has only one intention. Similar to The white house giving nunes intel on wiretapping that he then went to the press and said he needed to go to the white house to tell them about.... then it was bogus anyway. Some things are so transparent its hard to understand straight faced partisans going along with it.

Remember the FBI is a liberal institution that is totally biased in favor of hillary other than that whole unusual announcement about opening an investigation in to her the week before an election which very well may have decided things.....

strange days

I did hear that from a few morons. Similar to the morons that thought bammy was born in Kenya.... and yes I see some of the conspiracy idiots today doing similar. It's really strange how far some folks will go when they want to beleive

Why is it that the right pays lip service to the axiom that our law enforcement agencies (and intelligence networks) need absolute support, because they are protecting us from all the bad terrorists and criminals that threaten our people and it's democracy?

But when political expediency arises, they are quick to throw them under the bus, or overboard... this GOP strategy to undermine the credibility of the FBI is similar to the outing of Valerie Plame by the Bush/Cheney administration in the charade to justify the Irag War. Had a Dem done that, the cons woulda been screaming "treason!"

It's a memo, meh, release it or not, it will change very few minds. It isn't a factual piece of information. If it does contain information that harms our intelligence agencies. Arrest the people who released the memo and charge them with treason.
29. Author: DrafterXDate: Thu, 2/1/2018, 8:00PM EST
I think it was uncovered in the investigation.. don't think it was leaked.. Mellow
30. Author: SpeysideDate: Thu, 2/1/2018, 8:17PM EST
Drafted, I did not say leaked, I said released. Also it is not part of the investigation evidence. It is a memo written by the Republican members of the committee.

Based on the investigation... Mellow
32. Author: teedubbyaDate: Thu, 2/1/2018, 8:32PM EST
Um no. Not based on the investigation. Created by nunes’ staff and perhaps the white hose staff. It was not the result of any official investigation.

Have you read the committee transcript?

And yes, that’s why I said perhaps to be clear it’s speculation. You know what’s going on drafter. I really beleive you do. Maybe I’m wrong though.

Nunes does have a track record here.

Is that coming out in the memo? I would be surprised. I always thought it was Murmansk. Though what could be more romantic for a socialist/communist than Lennin's Mausoleum? Maybe the Leon Trotsky Museum in Mexico City.
43. Author: BuckwheatDate: Fri, 2/2/2018, 9:50AM EST
I think that both "sides" are going to be disappointed in the outcome from the memo's release. I think it's all bark and no bite once it comes out. fog

"Look how patriotic I am for leaking info from every confidential meeting"

By the way I’ll put drafter firmly in the Carter Paige should not have been surveiled camp.

I think in the end it will just give a lot of people something to bitch about in one fashion or another. Personally, I could care less but a lot of folks need that in there lives so let them have it.

Here's a link to the memo.
http://apps.washingtonpost.com/g/documents/national/read-the-gop-memo/2746/

Draw what conclusions you want from it.

Basically, it states that Hillary & the DNC through back door sources and possibly illegally paid Steele to dig up dirt on Trump's ties to Russia. Good thing she wasn't elected president. horse
