Illegal banning from Twitter....
1. Author: victor809Date: Thu, 7/26/2018, 12:14PM EST
So... Any number of us have been banned from cbid forums. (Some more often than others)... I don't think I've ever heard even the dumbest cbid poster ever claim it was illegal that a private platform would choose to ban an individual from posting....

And then we have this idiot...

Donald J. Trump
@realDonaldTrump
Twitter “SHADOW BANNING” prominent Republicans. Not good. We will look into this discriminatory and illegal practice at once! Many complaints.

Our ...so very presidential legal scholar... Weighing in on something which probably doesn't exist, and then claiming it is illegal.

Pretty sure it exists....might be legal, though.

Not terribly ethical if Twitter wants to be a more or less unbiased media portal, though
3. Author: victor809Date: Thu, 7/26/2018, 12:26PM EST
Have not seen anything to indicate it really exists. Haven't looked too deep yet tho.

But not even unethical. They are a social media site. They don't even actively aggregate news, their users repost. As a site they are making no claim to the quality or accuracy of the news, or the bias of it.
4. Author: bgzDate: Thu, 7/26/2018, 12:26PM EST
It depends on their terms of use and privacy policies.

I would generally say that it's not illegal though. I agree with dstieger though, there may be some ethical considerations that may cause real damage (such as drop in stock price).

There have been allegations that Twitter algorithms filter certain posts from certain tweeters to their followers. If that's not acknowledged in user agreements and is done because the programmers don't like certain viewpoints, I would call it unethical. Not saying it has happened, but seems there's been some evidence
6. Author: victor809Date: Thu, 7/26/2018, 12:33PM EST
... and yet there is also no indication it is happening.

I wouldn't worry about the ethics of it until you prove it is occurring.
But the president of the US claiming it is illegal is laughable and shows how little he cares about our actual laws in this country.

Don't know if it's true.
Doubt it's illegal.
But it's absolutely unethical to market yourself as an open public forum and then privately cull out behind the scenes based on political (or other) bias.
I bet they have a "terms of agreement" statement and I bet it makes no mention of politics.

HOW DARE PRESIDENT TRUMP BRING THIS TO LIGHT!!!!
THIS IS OUTRAGEOUS!!!!

9. Author: victor809Date: Thu, 7/26/2018, 12:37PM EST
Dsteig...
According to Twitter the "promoting" and "demoting" of tweets from specific users is based on user activity not content.

So I can imagine if someone is just retweeting constantly without any unique posts, they may be demoted... Or if someone reposts something which gets reported as "bad" they would get demoted...

I don't know how this could possibly end up impacting people associated with our current "prominent republicans"... (Looks around...looks at tweets from trump Jr that were retweets from literal white power groups... Looks around again)
10. Author: victor809Date: Thu, 7/26/2018, 12:40PM EST
Tail... He's bringing an unsubstantiated claim "to light" (... Aka spreading falsehoods). Then he's mangling our laws by claiming this unsubstantiated claim is illegal.

...sigh ..
Nevermind.
I'll explain it after you've finished and wiped the orange goo off your face...

Didn't several people claim it was illegal when trump blocked them on Twitter?

Clearly, Trump isn't a prominent enough of a Republican to be shadow banned. Or maybe it's that he isn't a real republican. horse
13. Author: victor809Date: Thu, 7/26/2018, 1:22PM EST
Opel... That's possible...
Trump's tweets are official white house statements now? So blocking someone from viewing them could be illegal. If Twitter "shadowbans" the president there could be a real interesting problem there... But none of the people they are claiming are shadowbanned (and aren't) are the president... So no dilemma.

That had to do with him using at as an official communication mechanism of the white house. There are legal implications there.... IE the White House can not pick and choose who has access to their communications. It had more to do with the White House than Twitter.

Who knows what twitter is doing or not doing? Trump surely doesn't. If he has researched this enough (rather than spazzing on a fox or conspiracy theory) to really know what is happening he needs more important things to do. It's a farce like most of the other carnival barker rants that the Pavlovian clowns of all sides...all sides...respond to.

His next tweet could be that he has proof there are only one and a half scoops of raisins in raisin bran...

This gets sadder every day....

my defcon just went to 0.1

Sounds like fake news.

Shadow banning does in fact sound like fake news.

But I'm sure z has totes got evidence for it based off some chemtrails he was reading while hanging with flat earthers...

You sure do love to say the word orange.

Not sure if it's a fixation or simply a sophomoric attempt at humor.
Either way, it was funny the first 100,000 times. You've passed the threshold of sanity on that one.

24. Author: ZRX1200Date: Fri, 7/27/2018, 5:42PM EST
The unsubstantiated claim that employees admitted to on (hidden) camera......you **** nut.
25. Author: victor809Date: Fri, 7/27/2018, 5:48PM EST
... you talking about that project veritas BS? Only someone like you would believe anything that comes out of that group. Their hidden video is always so heavily edited. Even the quotes I've seen from it specifically define downregulating tweets based on people being sh$tty...

That's not shadowbanning republicans, that's shadowbanning sh$tty people. If that turns out to be most of the people you like to get information from.... Well... That's you.
26. Author: victor809Date: Fri, 7/27/2018, 5:53PM EST
The concept of this "shadowbanning" conspiracy (probably sharing a lot of space on the same Venn diagram as the pizza gate stuff) is that Twitter has managed to silence"prominent republicans" because they are "prominent republicans" and for no other reason.

The presence of an alogrithm intended to reduce visibility of sh$tty people, bots etc... Is not evidence that republicans are being targeted. Especially not "prominent republicans". ...

As I said before... If you're retweeting white power groups, dont blame your political party affiliation when Twitter downranks your tweets.
27. Author: ZRX1200Date: Fri, 7/27/2018, 10:05PM EST
It's always so edited.....even when they release the whole thing and jackass is its like you pretend that didn't happen. Hope you get hepC twice the next bum you beat up. You're dumber than Drafter, and you don't even try. Really pathetic.

so no more prayers for Victor?

Pretty interesting, Victor presents a logical explanation of something here and our neoconservatives start foaming at the mouth and howling at the moon. Tell yourselves lies long enough and they become your truth.

WTF have you been smoking.

I'm glad his typical game is lost on you, sadly I'm not surprised. I will pray for the both of you.

Serious question because I don't know $hit about Twitter......are they deleting accounts because of political bias or because they are bot accounts? I thought they were just purging bots? I dunno.....I'm getting too old for all this $hit.

Actually Z it's your game that is moronic. To call Drafter dumb is really low class. To not understand logic is very sad. Best you pray for yourself, you need the help.

Spey, has your nose healed from that time Victor stopped too quickly?

Thoughts and prayers.

36. Author: SpeysideDate: Sat, 7/28/2018, 9:49AM EST
Another one of stories, how convenient. I never thought siding with truth and logic was anything other than well logical. Why do you prefer fabricated stories? Are you now in your second childhood and prefer fairy tales? Or has dementia kicked in? Or are you just an angry old many lashing out at what you fear and don't understand? Your diatribe directed at liberals seems to suggest that as well as your close mindedness. As I suggested to Z, pray for yourself, you need the prayers more than I do. I think the key to your happiness is self-delusion.
37. Author: SpeysideDate: Sat, 7/28/2018, 9:57AM EST
Z, just a thought, you know those things that repeatedly elude you. Neocon and neoconservative are 2 completely different things. You really should get the facts first, you can distort them later. I would tell you to go to h***, but I doubt they would want you there either.

40. Author: SpeysideDate: Sat, 7/28/2018, 10:23PM EST
LMAO! NeoCon, an annual large event in the commercial design industry. Yes it can be an abbreviation, but it is a poor one since NeoCon has a 51 year history. Do you need some suggestions for meds that might help you? IED is supposedly very hard to treat. Sadly medication has shown only minor limited success.
