First player to be voted unanimously in to the Hall of Fame.
Of course it would be a NY Yankee to do it.ThumpUp ThumpUp ThumpUp

though the BoSox gave him a tough time here and there, he's the best.

I surprised the writers didn’t screw this one up like they have many others......

He is the greatest closer of all time period. Too bad he was a Schitty Yankee.

Some of those writers who vote are real bozos.
There’s been a few others who should have been unanimous imo.

jeepers! I said he was the best.

even the fans in Fenway treated him with respect, and he played along with the mock derision they showed in appearances after losing a previous game to the Sox.

of all the teams he faced, I bet the Sox are up there with the best record of limited success against him...but usually he won out.

That's why he was the best.

EDIT:
quoted the wrong post...this was for #3

I saw the post before anyone had commented. I was about to say f*** the yankees, but figured... why bother?

I think Frank's response was measured and respectful.

You all will have to forgive my friend Streetrod.
He's good peeps AND he's a Yankee's fan. And a Giants fan.
And who knows what other sick fetish he has. Maybe the Rangers or Knicks?
But he's still good peeps.

If a Yankee fan can't try to slap down a Red Sox fan, then what has this world come to??

First off you guys forgot another GOAT who was not on all Ballots...... ‘The Mick’ Oh yeah he just happened to be another Yankee who made the HOF.

Have you considered surgery to correct your stuttering ?
If you have . . . DON'T DO IT !
I know of a guy who had the surgery, but he has regretted it ever since.

delta1: won’t argue that but won’t agree. Both were great. Only saw Joe D play his last year, although his record speaks for itself. Saw the Mick play about 150 games, grew up about 5 miles from Yankee Stadium.

us FOGs could probably name a 100 who shoulda gone in @100% vote..and our fathers and grandfathers could add to that.
Writers have their evil thoughts...in 1967 one voted for Cesar Tovar for MVP over Yaz!

Mantle was my favorite player (non-Dodger) growing up, especially during the year he and Maris were going after Ruth's record...a real shame that he tore up his knee on an outfield sprinkler early in his career...who knows what he could have done with his wheels intact...

just going by my father's belief that DiMaggio was better...he did score Marilyn, after all, and lost some prime years to WWII...

and Dad said the Duke was just as good as Mantle...I dunno, since I only saw him in decline during his last couple of years, too, while Mantle was in his prime...also saw Mantle in decline, struggling and failing to keep his lifetime BA above .300...
37. Author: frankj1Date: Thu, 1/24/2019, 5:02PM EST
and Mays was better than any of 'em

some pretty good centerfielders in NY back then...and a couple of them who leaked into Cali

Mays was one of the few Giants I didn't hate, while growing up a Dodgers fan...

Hall of fame is a joke. We can install steroids users, but Pete Rose will never be on a ballot. Which is worse, using illegal drugs, of betting on games?
40. Author: MACSDate: Thu, 1/24/2019, 9:20PM EST
Pete Rose should be in, for sure.

I really dislike Barry Bonds, but there is no denying that he was a HoF player even before he started juicing and getting a giant head (from the juice, and from success).

Same for Clemens.

We can discuss all day who was the best of the best in the outfield. No matter what, he came from NY.
Yes I am a FOG. Growing up when & where I did & my dad being a big baseball fan, he would take me to all the stadiums in NY.
Besides seeing the Yankees in the old stadium ( before the 70,s remodel)I was fortunate to see the Giants & Mets in The Polo Grounds & the Dodgers in Ebbets Field & also at Jersey City Roosevelt Stadium in around 1956/57 where they played a few games a year.

I met Frank.
Believe him.
He is a FOG.

And he now has proof of how dashingly handsome I am.

But on point, he's right: The best outfielder likely played in and for NY.

Because the Yankees used to be good.

I snopes'd it.

you thinking about Edgar Martinez? Harold Baines? Mike Mussina?

none are HoF caliber, imho...

agree that Rose, Bonds and Clemens should be in...

others who are in but not deserving: Bill Mazeroski, Luis Aparicio, Dennis Eckersley, Catfish Hunter and Ron Santo
