Taxes and IRS Efficiency...

Wife saw a nearly 30% increase in wages...


Tax return is over $4k...


IRS accepted the return in a record setting 16 hours after filing...

Cleared out some stocks last year to pay for the tranny, so gotta wait till mid Feb when they send out my forms for that.

Got just about everything else inputted. Still waiting on mortgage interest and property tax statements.

Right now TurboTax is saying I have a $300 refund. I'm sure that's gonna change to a zero, or a bill. I try to shoot for a zero or a bill. Rarely get there on federal tax but send a check every year on state tax.

if you're that close to even, would a couple of bucks a week into a 401k or IRA negate owing?
Also, isn't prop tax plus mtg interest deduction capped at 10K now or something like that? (I don't do my own taxes)
