If properly stored I see no reason why not.I have smoked cigars over 20 years old that were excellent.As a matter of fact I have a couple Boli CG's from 98 in my humi thanks to Buckwheat...…..they are incredible smokes |

Thanks everyone. Lit one up yesterday and it turned out OK. Definitely more mild then I remember them being almost two decades ago. |

I had a fiver of pre-embargo Cuban cigars that were not very strong but very complex (for no better way to put it). Reminded me of the pre-92 Criollo tobacco Cuban Romeo y Julieta Petit Coronas that I had from the '70's. Not a surprise as they were both made in the same factory.  |

But that's just a guess. Tube cigar smoked very mild as I expected. |

I've been aging Gurkha's I somehow came into possession of in hopes one day they will be good. They are going on 7-8 years now. Doubt I will be the one who smokes them, but I can give them to non cigar people and make it sound good. " Here you have a vintage 2010 Gurkha that has been aged for 8 years to enhance and bring out the flavors the maker crafted it to be" ha ha |

I think what Thundergerbil is trying to say is, "Never gift a cigar to someone which you yourself would not smoke."
I had a good friend by the name of Rich, we'd swap cigars back and forth and he was a pretty decent guy. Used to go over to his place, he cooked a pretty good pork tenderloin always great hospitality for a guy that didn't drink. He never deviated from the high road, always wanted to share what he thought were his best bargains or a cigar that he thought was of superior quality. And when he didn't smoke whatever he offered you it was always something of a lower grade. That's the guy you want to be. Not the one known for smoking a $25 cigar but handing out complete duds. |

That's basically the idea, although there is an accounting for personal preferences. You can know something is a good cigar, but it's not something in your wheelhouse, so you aren't going to smoke it, there should be no shame in gifting those. Knowingly and intentionally gifting crap though makes you a douche.

I'm sure there is a huge difference...……...my point was age doesn't hurt a cigar if stored properly.The Boli reference was just because the CG's are my oldest sticks. |
