My go to has been Ghurka Warpig! I love the smoke output, great taste and it is awesome around the campfire here in Alaska! What whiskey pairs well?

I'd skip the whiskey and go right to a mudhole if I were you. You won't notice the taste.

Old Forester 1920 Prohibition Style is pretty hard to beat. Even regular Old Forester is pretty good and won't put a dent in your wallet. Both can be easily found. I can't speak for Alaska since the last time I was up there was in 2003.

I kinda liked the Warpigs when they first came out but lately they haven't been anything above yard gar status. I don't know if it's me or them. They have been around a while, but then I've been around much longer.

As always, you lost me at "Gurkha". I hear that word and I stop listening. Ugh.

Jim Beam pairs well with almost anything. Smoke what you like. Try a Tatuaje instead of a Ghurka next time.

****, if you're in Alaska buy Alaskan Whiskey. Chillcoot, Outlaw, Anchorage distillery, all good choices

Actually for those who haven't sampled the Gurkha Warpig the 6" x 54 Toro is a serviceable cigar. Average medium flavor with decent construction and great draw. What do you expect for two dollars????

Other decent darkies you may want to try that can be gotten at CBid for a sub-$3.00 per cigar bid are:

5 Vegas Series 'A'
5 Vegas Triple 'A'
Ave Maria Argentum
CAO Brazilia
CAO Italia
Diesel Unholy Cocktail
Diesel Unlimited Maduro
Diesel Uncut Broadleaf
Fallen Angel
Graycliff 1666
Gurkha Park Avenue Maduro
HC Series Maduro2
Man O' War Damnation
Man O' War Side Projects Phalanx
Man O' War Side Projects Scull Crusher

Should add GENESIS OSCURO TORO (6" x 54) to the list of sub-$3 per darkies that is a decent smoke.

I don't think they make whiskey that cheap to pair with that.
However, I do enjoy myself with some Very Old Barton when smoking.

AF Mag R44 is a cigar I can enjoy at any time of the day or night and is complex enough to be smoked everyday if I had to.

Jim Beam is the Gurkha/Macanudo of bourbon. Not very good. Of course; De gustibus non est disputandum! fog
