I haven't found anything about the ones hauled off in the unmarked vans my the unmarked feds, purportedly HLS. Could you put up a link or 2 Z? Thanks.

All I can find is the booking and release of 1 person. The official release says the feds identified themselves and were identifiable, nothing is mentioned of unmarked vans, so I am looking for any information about the others, such as the guy in the video.

Don't we have unmarked cop cars patrolling nearly every city of any significant size and highways all the time. Don't they pull people over for various infractions on a daily basis?

If you are breaking the law, is it unheard of to be apprehend by unmarked cop cars or cops patrolling in plain clothing?

I'll have to tweak my theory...j/k.

Some specifics aside, aren't any Trump supporters concerned about a Federal government where armed men in unmarked vehicles wearing unmarked clothing and no identification can kidnap citizens who may or may not even be suspected of any criminal activity much beyond being in proximity?

Or even IF they are considered criminals? Let's face it, the POTUS has alleged all kinds of groups as consisting of unlawful bad hombres even before being elected...is that all we need to do this?

Verified (I am taking that to mean convicted) arsonists can be dealt with by State, County, City, or District Police Forces.

Happy now maybe, but boy will that change with a different ruling class in power.

unmarked cars from local police do patrol and issue tickets. They show ID after pulling you over which is done with blue flashing lights and sirens if needed.

They do not snatch people off the street under mysterious conditions and they DO NOT work for the Fed.

Robert, can you shed some light on something for me?

Does the Constitution provide the President an avenue to deploy Federal troops during unrest? I’m not looking to debate appropriateness, just whether the Constitution allows such.

What does case law say?

I don't know about the constitution but, president's authority to do so is at least codified in federal law, which also gives examples of reason he can deploy and go in for. I don't know what the case law is. If you want, I will gladly read-up and then I'll be able to better answer your question. LMK

Trump's deployment of federal troops to "hotspots" in Dem cities is nothing more than election/campaign theater in the vein of "wag the dog"...to distract from the daily bad news of the pandemic that have sunk his chances in November...

the problem is that this has not resulted in a restoration of the peace...instead, he has increased confrontations and potential for violence as more protesters have reacted to federal troops in their hometowns and have taken to the streets to protest their unwanted, unrequested and unneeded presence...

defenders of this decision would be singing a different tune if a Dem POTUS made the same "lawful directive" to "restore law and order" in a red state...state's rights, abuse of power, taking away citizen's Constitutional rights by force...

this is a cynical use of executive authority to affect an election in a self-dealing manner, irregardless of potential deadly consequences

Would it be fair to say that if local authorities had fulfilled the duties of their offices there would not have been a perceived need for federal assistance?

Btw, can you point out any fascism with federal troops being deployed?

here's a definition of "fascism": knock yourself out...

Fascism (/ˈfæʃɪzəm/) is a form of far-right, authoritarian ultranationalism characterized by dictatorial power, forcible suppression of opposition, as well as strong regimentation of society and of the economy which came to prominence in early 20th-century Europe

It's not specifically written into the Constitution. Some POTUS have deployed troops on US soil, under the Insurrection Act of 1807, but that has led to challenges and, in practice during Hurricane Katrina, confusion over who commends the troops.

The 10th Amendment seems to apply:

"The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people."

seems if the Constitution doesn't specify a power or authority to the POTUS, then it is reserved by the States...

Sure, Trump has no constitutional authority to do so. 10th amendment stuff. Plain and simple this is illegal. My only question is concerning federal buildings in states. Is the land the building is on federal or state? This would give federal troops the legal right to defend the building on building grounds if the ground is federal, though the off grounds actions including shooting form on grounds to off grounds are illegal. It would seem a grey area to me if it is legal or not for federal troops to travel on state grounds to reach a federal building.

It seems the official liberal line is to pull the Federal law enforcement out (because Trump).

OK, pull them out and evacuate the Federal buildings. Portland PD and Portland FD will watch the buildings burn.

Option 1: is this now an insurrection?

Option 2: don’t rebuild. Transfer the court and all Federal services out of Portland. Now when people need federal services like Social Security they will need to drive a bit.

Why thank you. Let’s see.

1) Define far right? What threshold separates far right from right. Or is anything right of center car right?
2) Define ultranationalism. What separates ultra from plain? See above.
3) What examples can you highlight that shows suppression of opposition? Slippery slow if anything?
4) Ditto for strong regimentation of society.

Please be specific. Otherwise, it an opinion consistent with political talking points.
