I certainly wish that every Floridian with covid gets MCA treatment. But, 70% of the production was going to just 7 states, leaving 33 states each vying for their share of the measly 30% left over. There just isn't enough to go around.

Many, many Floridians not at relative risk for long-term consequences, or not in the worst shape or on their deathbeds, are still being medicated- and the consequence is the elevated risk to those in locations where Regeneron has dire supply shortages. Preventing or working around this for all Americans is equitable on a national level, IMO (even though Florida will likely get less Regeneron). I have zero problem with this because I believe we Americans are all in this together

Take a look at monopolies, monopsony, duopolies and such. Economics shows that there is are potentially significant downside to monopsonies. They **can** result in lower production output because the buyers' control of the market drives purchase prices down to the cost of manufacturing- and manufacturing of additional goods is halted. This, according to the laws of supply and demand, would results in lower output/production of a good, and even a halt in production of the good, in this case MCA, because it is no longer as profitable to produce- because the the wholesale price is often in major part controlled by the purchaser(s).

By the federal government stepping in and buying up the whole supply and then paying enough extra to encourage additional production of MCA and possibly requiring that other pharmaceutical companies be allowed to use the Regeneron "recipe", to produce yet more MCA, supply could increase.

We are all in this mess together and I **hope** the federal intrusion is successful for all of us.
