It's smart. If the fights/killings were gang related (and the article says they were) the word is going to get out and retaliation is going to happen. Nothing happens without the permission of the shot callers in each facility and they take orders from the top dog, whichever facility he is in.

Takes time to get word spread. Also has to be done in code, and every facility has a dedicated unit that reads the incoming/outgoing mail and attempts to break the codes. They even send messages in drawings... so a drawn "picture" of, let's say a tattoo pattern a guy asks for may not be just a pattern. Might be a message in that picture.

Either way... when they're in their cells 23 hours a day, they absolutely hate it and can't do "business" or socialize or get ANY word out.

This is a good way to let them know it either ends right there, or they'll be locked down for much longer. Happens again in another facility... lockdown will continue.

Won't slide, though. And inmates are very patient. They have to learn to be or go batcrap crazy. Eventually someone will answer for the deaths.

Set is up March Madness like brackets. County, State, then Regional, Sectionals etc.

Goes all the way down to the Last Banger Standing.
He* gets 50 cents, and a week taken off of his sentence.
*There would also be a Female, Transgender and Transfluid contests. Sorry, no specific TrannyMike division.
Winner gets to play again the next year. Win 10 years in a row, get 10 weeks off of their sentence.

Fewer inmates after every round, lowering expenses.
Herd gets thinner all the time.

Could have different divisions too, based on time sentenced (5-10 years, 10-25, 25-50).
For the lowest division (5-10 year bracket) gets a free apartment on the SW side for Survivor Chicago 365.

SC365 Premise: Champion gets placed into a neighborhood turf of a rival gang. If he remains alive for 365 days, he also gets 10 days off of his sentence.

Like to solve problems, increase the level of communications, build efficiencies and turn a profit.

This is a win for just about everyone.

AND if the don’t currently qualify because they aren’t in prison, they can go to Cali, steal $1,000 worth of merch then turn themselves in.

Equality of opportunity which could lead to quality of outcome. Although some of us may have a harder time than others getting into a good (bad) gang. Maybe there is a class for those of us over 50 where we can learn. Kind of like the Progressive commercials about not becoming your parents.
