Dub City is gonna be a much bigger test for the C’s defense. They’re only going to go as far as Brown, Smart and old man Al take them.

AGREED !

I have a "friendly fiver" wager on them with heynow5151.
He is from Massachusetts and a typical obnoxious "Boston" sports fan.
Feeling somewhat better after GS's performance in game 2.

C’s efficiency was horrid the last game, only way they stay in it is fundamentals and the supporting cast around Tatum plays well. They’re lucky they didn’t lose game 2 by 50.

Fair weathered C's fan here.

Celtics look like the better team so far.

It's Steph vs. a team.

Dramond is a drama queen punk. Shouldn't even be on the floor.

Kerr and company are looking to blame someone besides their own poor play. 11 points in the 4th Q?

We might be watching the fall of one dynasty and the rise of another.

I still won't be a die hard. But it'll be fun. Even in today's version of the game.

they finally took it to the lane.
and guys who had been hanging around the 3 point line and in the corners followed shots and they got a bunch of offensive rebounds...imagine that. Fundamentals often work.

But are they boxing out?
61. Author: ZRX1200Date: Thu, 6/9/2022, 7:33PM EST
Tail I disagree, GS has retooled their roster for a complete style overhaul. And one of their major stars Klay Thompson is recovering from an injury again and just really getting into the swing of things again. I say their future is really bright.

Green, like him or not is the heart of that team, he plays great defense and sets them into defense….when he’s out their defensive rating is garbage. And he passes really well. Weird he doesn’t shoot at all like he used to though.

Yeah fundamentals, whoddathunk.

I wouldn't count the Warriors out...they've been involved in the Finals much more than this group of Kelts...

tho I'm in line to win a buncha cash if the Celtics win, I regret making that wager now, and this is one wager I hope to lose...I blame my friend who placed the bet for us...

If I recall correctly, the same could be said about the 1991 Lakers and the Bulls won in 5 after losing game 1.

Hmmmmm... did you forget that out of convenience?

Big game Monday. Will likely indicate which team will win it all.

Can't shake that feeling that we're just watching a 3 point contest.
With that punk beotch Green whining and mewling on the side.

Um... they only need to win 2, since it's the best of 3... and the 2016 Cleveland Cavaliers were down 3-1 and in fact DID win the last 3 games.

here's the truth...Bulls were not underdogs in the Finals, but the Detroit Bad Boys were favored to beat them in the eastern conference final...Lakers were only the third best team in the West and the Blazers were favored to beat them in the WCF

https://www.actionnetwork.com/nba/betting-odds-history-1990s-chicago-bulls-dynasty-michael-jordan

Lakers were dinged up with Byron Scott, the Lakers' starting shooting guard and primary defender on Michael Jordan injured and missing the entire series, and James Worthy re-injuring his ankle near the end of Game 1...this negated the experience factor which would've existed had he and Scott been healthy...look at Worthy's career playoffs stats and you can see the drop off in those Finals that year...the closeness of the last 4 games suggest that had the Lakers been healthy...

this was not the Showtime Lakers...Kareem was retired, Magic was playing his last full season and had tested positive for HIV...Vlade was OK, but only a 2nd year center and was pushed around...his inexperience showed...

woulda, coulda, shoulda

one possible parallel between this GSW v Celts series and the '91 Bulls v Lakers: the more experienced team has one of its key players injured/at less than 100% ...Klay Thompson could be the Warrior's Byron Scott/James Worthy if they lose...

I hope that the Kelts don't repeat the '91 Bulls history and use this Finals as a springboard to a decade long dynasty...

just to finish the thought about the '91 Finals between the Lakers and the Bulls...

Lakers experience and Bulls inexperience, pro or con, was not the issue...

Imagine the GSW without Andrew Wiggins...Byron Scott was as consequential to the 91 Lakers as Wiggins is to the Warriors...his absence for the Finals due to injury and Worthy playing with an ankle injury made all the difference.

I got no dog in this fight but as a former Lakers fan, it’s a tad hard to root for Boston; however, in the same vein, it’s not so easy to cheer for Golden State either. Since both teams can’t lose and someone is gonna be crowned the new champion, I’m just hoping for an exciting, down-to-the-last-shot 7th game.

Players I would love to see hit that buzzer-beating winning shot:

Al Horford - watched him win two NCAA b-ball championship so him finally getting his first NBA title would be nice. He could retire after that.

Andrew Wiggins - former first overall draft pick finally lives up to his potential. If he hits that shot and he’s a FA after this season, millions and millions of dollars will be flowing his way.

Don’t forget I ran an NBA finals contest here for a couple years.

Traveling??
What’s that?
It’s not just the extra steps on dunks and such, but also the pivot foot “drag”, which is getting ridiculous!

Also, the rules are such that there isn't much defense. Yet the 2 teams in finals every year play as good of defense as the rules allow. I think MJ would average between 40 and 45 in today's game, perhaps more.
89. Author: KingoftheCoveDate: Thu, 6/16/2022, 10:41AM EST
Will most likely be an interesting game, with drama, technical fouls, maybe a “brawl”………who knows.
My predictions….
Celtics can only win if they win easily, almost in a blowout fashion.
Warriors can do this as well.

If it is a close game, down to the wire? Warriors will execute better, and take the title.

Only thing I’d add is Tatum is a monster, but he doesn’t tend to be that after adversity. I like Brown a LOT and have since he’s been in the league.

I hope everyone took my advice on betting Brown tonight…….

Congrats to dynasty team. Green played his azz off.

About 6 years ago a reporter asked Damian Lillard what Steph Curry’s range was. He answered “when he steps off the bus”.

Yep. Two things..

Wiggins shut down Tatum, something no one predicted, and are not talking about too much. The narrative being Tatum was just off, fatigued, etc. Wiggins has emerged as a solid to elite defender.

Steve Kerr thoroughly out coached Ime imho. And that won’t be discussed much either, but the fact of the matter is, the Warriors made adjustments, and ultimately figured out the Celtics on BOTH ends of the floor.
If not for that crazy hot streak the Celtics had in Game 1, this would have been over in 5. As it was, not really as close as it seemed. Warriors figured them out. No real point guard for the Celtics who could help them get their offense in some kind of rhythm, while the Warriors simply had too many weapons.

Bad news for the league is Warriors have $$$$……..give no chits about salary cap fines, and have a core of FOUR young guys who are gonna be very good to dominant players in the league.

They did actually call traveling on Tatum(?) in the 3rd quarter(?) last night... I was watching
but could be wrong on both points, but traveling was definitely called...I noticed, because it had
been awhile since I've heard it called...d'oh!

They called Smaht for double dribble too. Couple of calls should have been no calls, and a couple calls were questionable but overall pretty well done by the crew/

Agreed………they basically let them play.
On the shot in the 4th, where Curry “put the Celtics to sleep”………….who/what/how did Smart get smacked in the nuts?
No one is talking about it, it it looked like, from one VERY SHORT video, from another angle, that Curry kind of gave him a back fist to the crotch as he exploded by him……….but I’m not sure.

If so, Smart deserves that shot, because he was brutalizing Curry on the previous possession, and thru much of the game.
That sequence was actually awesome……….Smart goes down wincing in pain, can’t move, Curry calmly buries another three, and puts the Celtics to sleep!

I’m with Stephen A Smith……………..Warriors win it again next year.
