deadeyedick wrote:Well, it's a definite go on selling the mountain house. Papers signed, and signed, and signed. Buyers bank waived any need for comps since they are putting about 50% down payment so the only contingent clause is a home inspection. Closing date is Nov 3rd.
Now we need to find a home for all the furniture in and out of a 3 bedroom house. The buyers may want some of it but we haven't heard back on that. Other than two original oils, a bronze and a few personal items we have no use for any of it. Prolly going to contract with an estate sale company to run that since we will not be there.
Fantastic! The problems one wants to have when selling a house. Estate sales are a good way to go. |

Ram27 wrote:Those basturds danm. Not sure whom you should contact but someone has to address this issue and dam soon. Have you spoken to the salesman that made the deal ? Or dealership manager Bought it an hour away, and that shop was equally useless. The day I bought it I got home and smelled coolant, turned around and brought it back and they told me everything's fine and they always smell like that. First trip out with the truck a hard coolant line in the V of the engine underneath the intake manifold blew. Overheated and left me on the side of the road. Had enough water in the camper tanks to refill the radiator and get the truck and camper to a parking lot where I called AAA since I had AAA premier plus RV and it's supposed to give me one tow a year of truck and camper up to 200 miles. So I figured I'd get a tow home. Nope. AAA left me for 8 hours saying "a truck's on the way" up until I really pressed them and they admitted they couldn't find anyone to take the job. So I had my dad come up to get the camper, and topped the radiator off and just drove the thing to the nearest dealer. That dealership actually took care of me. FCA denied warranty on it because it was a hose. Dealer said I'd be on the hook for $1800. However I argued it was a hardline and under the intake manifold, so it's internal to the engine. They said they would appeal, and did, and it was covered. But you know... coolant smell is normal for these trucks.... Next trip out with a trailer the transmission locked me into first and fourth limp mode. No check engine lights but only 2 gears. Took it in to the selling dealer. But a power cycle would reset things and give all gears back. So dealer says unless there's a code there's nothing they can do, drive it until there's a code. Tried towing again, with just my flatbed car trailer and a motorcycle on it and it went first 4th only again. This time I left it running, dropped the trailer at home and went to the local dealer. Told them the whole thing and I said don't turn it off until you test drive it to confirm the issue. They turned it off. Couldn't replicate issue was the final ticket. I towed three times with my heavy duty truck. All three times it broke. A HD truck should be towing every time it's running. That's what they're made for. Finally got CEL unloaded and brought it in. But at this point 4th gear's clutches were FRIED from trying to accelerate in 4th. Limp mode doesn't even let you wind it out in 1st to redline before shifting to 4th, it goes to 4th at 2500. It slips and screeches like hell on any kind of hill even at 40mph. They confirmed the codes and "rebuilt the trans" But the parts list was valve body and solenoids. No clutch packs on the list. I told them before I took the truck home that they didn't do it right. They said try it out and bring it back if it's not right. Slipping on the first hill on the drive home. Shifted a lot nicer though. Brought it back and they said they couldn't replicate issue. So then I took 4 separate videos of the tachometer with the cruise set to 45 and it swings wildly between 2-3krpm and screeches like fingernails on a chalkboard. I showed them the videos and they said yes, that's a slipping trans. That's where we are now as of 9/13. Just called the dealer again, they told me they can not do anything with it until they have authorization from FCA or Stellantis warranty dept and probably won't happen for another week or two. But they did replicate the slipping trans. But can't open the trans without authorization. I told them they need to keep me updated. He said they would. We'll see.... |

I've put about 8k miles on it in 2 years.
I'ts been in the shop at least 10x in that time.
Tires, brakes, oil changes, wiper blades etc normal maintenance I've spent around $3k
Optional/personal modifications I spent about $5k. Head unit, cameras, removed the interior and dynamatted all the exterior panels, tinted windows, high level amp, 6 speakers, sub amp, 2 subs, Weatherguard toolbox and weathertech floormats. Plus a bed extender thing, multiple ball mount hitches for the 2.5" receiver (most trucks have 2").
Heater core replacement not covered, that was a $2k bill.
Crashed it, $1400 for a bumper and running board.
Shift linkage broke, $200 in parts I did it myself.
Warranty covered EGR line replacement $1800. Warranty covered initial transmission "rebuild" $1600.
So I figure $15k over the $35k I paid has been spent to go 8k miles. Figure in gasoline avg say $3.80 for the last 2 years and 8k miles at 9.8mpg throw another $3k and make it $18k. So it's cost $53k to drive a truck I've never been able to tow with over 8k miles. Granted a large chunk of that is what I do to all my vehicles, but it's still a sunk cost that goes with the car when sold. I'll keep the subs and the sub amp. The rest has to go with the truck. |

started the fast this evening for Yom Kippur. It falls on a bad week for us this year but I can't control that.
Got the bagels, scallion cream cheese, sliced tomatoes, sliced red onion, lox, kugel, knishes, blintzes and coffee on standby ready for the Break Fast around 6:30 PM tomorrow. My knish guy didn't make whitefish salad this year! Said the neighborhood has changed and it's too expensive to make and only sell a little.
Just us and a couple with whom we are very close (they were on the amazing MACS tour of San Diego Bay several years ago with us) this year. Gonna commiserate with them, and hope for a better year |

Can't sleep also so up at 3:40. Worried about the home inspection scheduled for today at the mountain house. A neighbor called last night and said they had a big wind storm up there and the outside was a mess. We are not able to get up there until tomorrow due to appointments so it is what it is. Guess it should not affect anything but outside cosmetics but we also just remembered we need to get a note to the inspector because we always shut off the water and recirculating pump when we leave.

Last warm day of the year today. High if 73. About to walk the dog. That 55-60 degree range is her favorite. When the weather is to her liking, she'll look up to me and smile while we are walking. When it rains, snows or is cold, no smile, head parallel to the ground no smile.
Its like she's thinking Hey Dumbarse, I like walking in warm. Turn this cold thing off.
At least I get to be her hero today.
