To be honest I haven't purchased any cigars in 2-3 years now.. I gave many of my collection to another friend of mine locally who recently got into the hobby/habit.. I kept most my top shelf and Cubans and with my COPD crap... I'll smoke one once a month or maybe 5 in a total year?? especially around holidays... with that said, my desktop Humidor stash probably has enough cigars with Age for another 3-4 yrs?? |

But looking at their frequency of sales and them offering 20% off storewide every once in awhile (…and Fuentes are eligible…), I’mma gonna roll the dice and wait for a sale AND the 20% off. I know it’s a big gamble but after getting my last box, a few weeks later they offered the 20% AND the sale price was still good. So I coulda gotten an even lower price! just consolidated my shrinking cache of cigars...sent two 75 count snap-lid tupperdors to the surplus drawer...three left, each about 2/3 full...
many of the boxes in the large 23"x18"x8" snap-lid container are less than half full...
still have too many cigars to venture an accurate count/inventory...
8 months into the Ironclad Resolution and I'm gaining confidence that I can finish. |

Took a rough inventory - 1164 total cigars now with 182 more coming tomorrow for a total of 1346. Didn't go by brand, but I may look again to see just how many triple maddies I actually have. Still plan on adding more if and when the price is right.

Day 1.
I was doing pretty well, but smoked an Aging Room Solera Sungrown last night and noticed that I'm already halfway through the box. I figured I would check prices, and when I get down to a 5ver, start looking for sales.
Then I saw that the Sungrown have been discontinued. A lot of places are out, some places still have them. A competitor had a 25% discount if I signed up for the emails (that's a sale, right?), so I bought a box of cigars even though I didn't really want to buy any right now.
Actually, I bought two since the 25% off was only good for that one order. Bought some of the corojo too.

Went a very very long time without buying. Occasionally topped off my daily drivers but that was it for several years. Back in 15 I spent thousands and had a "lifetime" of cigars on hand. I said I'd smoke through all of them and once I was out, that was it. Then when I could start seeing the bottom of the pelican case I said when I get down to my desktop I'll just keep that and that's it. We all know how that goes/went. I've received 3 orders this year already and there's 2 in the air. Spent too much, got a lot less than I did back in '15, but this was a more calculated mass purchase than back then so I should like everything I bought, even the boxes I ordered of cigars I've never had before. If not, I'll be looking for bus drivers. Technically I've gone 3 days without an order. But I have some open bids at the other place so I may or may not be buying more tomorrow at noon. |

Do you know why the Chinchalle are so cheap? Because it's so hard to get a nail behind that little round piece of the band for removal. Not much glue though so that's good. Maybe if the band material were a little thicker... I still bought two boxes. Thanks for the tip Tiver |

I was just joking. I love the Chinchalle and also leave the band on until the cherry is almost touching but then it's a scramble to get it off. An excellent cigar otherwise. The Tabernacle has that same shaped band but material seems to be a little thicker so easier to pop off. |

I’ve been buying a lot since first week of November. I bought a couple of those acrylic humidor jars and a 100 stick Old Glory humidor and I’ve got an old glass top desk style humidor. I use those to rotate my sticks into my daily smokes with the smaller glass top humidor being my “smoke box”. I’ve got a heavy duty plastic suit box or coat box with snappy closures on both ends. It is now stuffed with approximately 300 cigars and I’ve got about a hundred more paid for and in the pipeline. The coat box has wheels and it rolls easily under my bed. I don’t have room for the smokes that are in the mail and I will figure out something. I’ve had to buy several hygrometers and Boveda bags and cedar paper “fines” to get everything working. So far so good. Now I’m in a position to let some of these babies age a little and I don’t plan to spend anymore $$$ on cigars or storage. I’m a couple grand in since November but I’ve been buying different brands and vitolas and keeping a log of what I like and most importantly…what I DON’T like. Wish me luck, fellas. |

jeebling wrote: ........I’m in a position to let some of these babies age a little and I don’t plan to spend anymore $$$ on cigars or storage................ Nobody buys that many cigars in three months and quits cold turkey. Doesn't work that way. You move from $12-$15 fivers up to $20-$25 fivers and into $35-$50 fivers or the equivalent in tens or boxes. You can't just turn it off. Doesn't work that way. Then you start to wonder about those 5ers you paid less than $20 for. Are they worth holding onto for any length of time? They seemed good when they were purchased, but damn, there seem to be a lot of smokes for $5- $8 each that need to be tried. Jeebs, it seems you are doing a great job smoking what you have!! Burn 'em. But Ima venture a guess you won't stop buying just yet. |

Although it may not completely stop you, you can probably slow yourself down by NOT buying more storage space!
Remember LeeBot's 3d Axiom - The number of cigars you own will expand to fill the storage space allotted to them.
I have bought Tupperware and coolers and on and on. Each one was the extra bit of space I needed to comfortably store what I had and maybe have a small amount of leftover space for extra growth. It fills up, so then another one. And on and on ... |

whatta lite weight...two grand since November??? That's it???
It's gonna be close to $2K a month soon, as your palate evolves and craves $10 smokes, then $15, then $20+...
and then that beautiful end table humidor that has a 1,500 cigar capacity will catch your eye...all that space...

Since I’ve resolved to really limit my purchases, one of my “tricks” is to NOT optimize my coolers. I no longer consolidate cigars to make more room. Yes, I know I could add a few more cigars if I really wanted to but my eyes see filled-to-the-brim coolers so I don’t feel the need to buy more cigars. Well, I’mma gonna keep trying to fool myself for as long as possible. |
