LFD Double Ligero
1. Author: MraiaDate: Mon, 2/6/2023, 8:43AM EST
Had one of these yesterday that was given to me by Mr. Sellers. Wow. I get it! This thing was aging since 2018 and it sat in my humi without the cello for about 2 weeks.
Little Johnny Walker black, out door heater turned to high, and I was off.
I really enjoyed it. Its by far the strongest stick Ive ever had, and took a while to for me to appreciate that. But after about maybe 15 minutes I started to really dig it. Now, it MAY be beyond me, as far as strength goes. I usually go for a milder smoke, and I felt the after effects of this one for a while after I was done with it. But man I certainly see what the fuss is about these things.
I have a few more, and I may wait till the weather warms up before trying another. I think this would be better without the cold being a distraction.

As always, thanks Corey!Applause

Did Corey send you a Fausto too? He may be trying to kill you.

Was the LFD a maduro? You should try a LaNox and a La Volcada.

Enjoyable smoke that I found to be not as strong as some say they are.

^ by todays standards Tony agreed, 15 years ago there weren’t a lot of blowtorches…. I find them one dimensional and stronger than I prefer.

They list their length and rg, so you know they are at least three dimensional.. come on man!!

Yep, used to look for the strong smokes but as my palate developed I seldom find them appealing any more.

^I keep waiting for this to happen. I smoke a lot of the blowtorches. I try milder stuff, try to keep an open mind, but I'm just not there yet.

I think the years of smoking mostly Cubans was what ruined me. No other cigars have that twang and even though some are on the strong side of medium they very rarely seem harsh.

Ditto. I was excited to smoke an AF Don Carlos a while back, but kept checking to make sure it was lit because I could barely tell I was smoking...

Cubans? What’s that??
Kidding but not so much. I’ve had one or two over the years and thoroughly enjoyed them, but that was when I was out of the country and could get them. Maybe on vacation or business.
They ARE still illegal in the US, aren’t they?

Ughh man I’m going to get murdered here any minute…

As long as you aren't too dramatic, you will be fine. Oh, wait...

But seriously, check out the MF Le Bijou 1922 as well. Upper end of Medium-MediumFull, but not in a brash way. In fact, I wish it were a little stronger, but I love that blend. It is one of the first cigars I actually thought "man this thing is really well blended."

Yah little flair for the dramatic I guess...but thanks for that recommendation. Im going to see about getting a few. I'll let ya know how it goes. I think the medium stuff is my sweet spot.

A few other brands (…and vitolas…) for you to check out:

Guardian of the Farm - Apollo, Campeon, JJ and Rambo

HVC - La Rosa 520 Favoritos and Serie A Perlas

JRE Aladino - I’mma big fan of this brand and blend. Every vitola I’ve had (…PC, Corona, Palmas, Robusto, Cazador and Elegante…) has been great. At this point in time you should stay away from the Reserva series.

MHO on the MF LB22 PR - give them time, at least a year or more, and they’ll REALLY shine!

If you prefer medium fry a Perdomo 10th Anny maduro robusto, an Illusion Fume d amore and a Illusione MJ12 maduro.

I perf "baking " versus frying 🍳. Think
19. Author: delta1Date: Thu, 2/9/2023, 7:06PM EST
with all three in there, it's gotta be a stir fry...
20. Author: ZRX1200Date: Thu, 2/9/2023, 7:07PM EST
In Oregon you can get fried if you bake too much mota.

Thanks for all the recommendations. I’ve written then down and will be looking out for them.
Right now I seem to be slowly moving from mild-mediums to medium-full smokes, if I’m saying this right. The LFD double Ligero was out of my league… I admit to not being man enough for it! But yesterday I had a AJF New World and enjoyed it immensely. Same with the Drew Estate Undercrown. Delicious!
