500 Lost souls swimming in a fish bowl

Tri-tip for food today! Went to the park with metal detector to try to help a person done a lost cross that broke off the necklace yesterday. No luck unfortunately. Gavin's soccer game was awesome, best I've seen him play! Enjoying a cigar and some bourbon before our friends get here. Happy Sunday y'all!

Got a couple black angus sirloins marinating for the years first grilling session this evening. Can't wait for that charcoal grill taste. Currently contemplating what to smoke afterwards as it's going to be in the high 70s tonight. Beautiful day in my area of the fish bowl.

P.S. Monkey has good sale on tenskis of Padrons and some LFDs right now.

Happy Sunday, Cheno and all. I’m smoking a Gordo on the porch, listening to the rain. Hondo, my 11 mo Standard Poodle is chewing a bone near my feet. Relaxing. “STIR”

Coop cleaned, built a little cage in the corner to hold the new chickens. They've been spending their days in a small pen in the chicken run to acclimate the old birds to the new ones but they come in the house at night. They stink and one of them started crowing in the morning so it's time to stay outside. Lock em in the coop for a few days to learn where home is and should have it figured out by next weekend I'll remove the chicken wire in the coop and hopefully they integrate with the big girls.

Washed the ridgeline, bought chicken feed, took patio furniture from the basement and moved it outside.

Ground the meat for jerky and burgers. Jerky in dehydrator. Test batch 2.

Fought with the fireplace trying to get a fire going. Guess I forgot to dump the water out the bottom of the solo stove. Took a while to get it going but now had a cigar by the fire.

Restocked 2 fallen wood piles and refilled the wood rack on the patio.

Decently productive day.

Just changed the coolant thermostat on the wife’s car. Thank God for YouTube, otherwise this repair would’ve costed me 300 instead of 50

Sort of a productive weekend. Knocked off about 80% of things on my self created to do list. Ran into a snag. Neighbor kid asked if I had an extra tower computer that he could buy off me. (That question was not the snag). Told him that I do happen to have one but you can't buy it. I can't charge neighbors or friends for something I have but don't use. Give me a day to fire it up, clean it up, install some software and it's all yours.

Fired it up and plugged in a spare monitor but no go. Tried again, no go. Monitor was scrambled. Thought maybe the video card is freaking out. Changed that. Same result so I punted on Saturday and told him I'll give him a laptop that I have kicking around but I'll need to wipe it. On Sunday (today) I thought, maybe the monitor is franked and not the video card or the computer. Tried a different monitor and sure enough it was the monitor. I let it do it's thing for Win10 updates and stuff and the kid has a fresh computer (he'll have to buy a monitor).

One less computer collecting dust at my place, one more computer that will be used in a new home.

My problem is I need two six hour flights to get to Hawai’i now. So I learned to make it. May have to learn to make loco mojo if I can’t find a good Hawaiian restaurant here.

Morning everyone!

Spending my Monday completing VA Hospital trainings. The VA really hasn’t updated their medical charting software or trainings since the early 2000s. These trainings are unbearable. 😅

Yeah... I do NOT like dealing with them at all, so I don't if I can avoid it. But I have to get a physical every year to stay in their system.

I'm not too mad since its about 3 years old and the unremovable battery is not lasting long. Also, it just started acting up about a week ago.

Totally understandable. There’s some solid VAs out there, but there’s also some really terrible ones as well. I am lucky to live near one that gets pretty solid reviews from our Vets, but that’s not to say it’s perfect.

Loco moco's even better if you use a fried rice with lop chong as the base...I use fresh ground 80% beef with chopped onions for the patties, not the pre-made burger patties...I just can't replicate the brown gravy that seems to be an island secret...

For the most part I’m happy with all the treatment I get. It’s the communication and scheduling and the online stuff, including pharmacy, that is a pain for me. Anyway, thanks for helping Vets. I think you’re a Vet as well?

Nope, just a doctoral student doing neuro and psych evals in a VA right now. Although some of my friends are Vets and they really like the VA I’ve been at. Meanwhile I have some family on the other side of the country and they always talk about some serious issues at their VA. I think some are just way better than others.

I agree, the online stuff is a nightmare. I think if they put some of the millions of taxpayer money into updating the system from 1997, it might be a bit easier.

Mornin' dudes.

The VA in San Diego was pretty good. They have a yuge concentration of veterans, though... so it's a big system. I am in the North Florida/South Georgia VA system. It's lacking. As jeebling said, the scheduling and communication is crap. But they just built a new facility here in Jax, so there's that. I think the issue for me is they can't seem to keep doctors, here.

My last appointment where I went in I was not even seen by the doctor. I spoke with a PA on a computer screen. d'oh!

Especially pink tacos.

A nice 63/90 headed this way. The pool is starting to look good but 1st a little maintenance. Remove the cartridge filters and power wash them and check chemicals. About a twice a year job on the filters.

Panda has stores in China, it's not traditional Chinese, but apparently good enough to sell in China. Confused

Panda Express is to Chinese food as Taco Bell is to Mexican food...it's not even as good as the fast food Chinese deli take-outs, which usually aren't as good as most eat in Chinese restaurants...

we live in a Chinese food desert here in Corona, CA...one average place within driving distance...there's a 99 Ranch Asian supermarket nearby and I go there for stuff from their hot food deli...

couple good places in Riverside, but many more in the opposite direction, towards L.A., Cerritos and San Gabriel Valley

At least you have some good Mexican food. When we lived in Azusa we liked to go to the House of Wong in Pasadena, CA. Living in Laguna Niguel we had many choices of both. We missed them all dearly when we moved to Texas. Except when we drove up to Houston. Absolutely delicious smoked brisket was some consolation.
