^I have seen that with other brands/sizes, too. I guess I assumed they were overstocked with something, dropped the price to $25/fiver for a deal, and then went back up to MSRP to teach all those who missed out not to hesitate next time. |

82328 Rocky Patel Royal Vintage with thanks to jeebling.
Starts off dry and bitter. And like every box pressed RP I've ever smoked, one side wants to run. At an inch it chilled with the bitterness and went more nutty. One touchup. Little pepper on retro not much. Less dry. Pleasant. Typical mass market cigar profile nothing to excite nothing to offend. Burn needed one more touchup around halfway. Halfway the flavors and texture got sweeter and richer, it's decent. Lingering aftertaste is kinda ashy and doesn't match the flavor of a fresh draw. Any bite in the retro has left, it's just a smooth sweet rich smoke. My A&W cream soda easily overpowers any flavor from the cigar. It's pretty much what I expected. I liked the Decade more but if I smoked this or the decade on the lawnmower unbanded I don't think I'd be able to tell the difference. Decent yard gar |

82329 Rocky Patel 15th anniversary with thanks to jeebling.
This had an interesting first light. Plums and raisins. Assloads of pepper on retro. Typical RP touchup. Normally I'd blame the light/foot toast but these always start running after a half inch or so of evenly burning. Chilled out though. Cherry n chocolate kinda. It's pretty good. Very much full flavored, cigar overwhelms my cream soda I barely taste that when I take a swig. Hardwood notes on finish. Halfway through less of the fruity flavors, more earthy. Slight plum note remains in the finish. Had an inch of unpleasantness after halfway. Purged a few times and it came back for a bit but then shifted back to bitter/tarry. Stored at 62, so that's not it. Whatever. It was good for half. It's decent but I don't know that I'll smoke the 2nd one of these. |

It's a corojo wrapper which is my favorite which is why I think I like them so much. They are difficult to find. They are only released twice a year usually around late spring and fall. I believe only B&Ms get them and most limit quantities. Some even jack up the price well past the $18 MSRP because of their rarity. Ive seen them sold for $25-$30. If u haven't had one by next release I'll send u one. |

Beautiful little Connie, invisible seam, small veins, capped nicely. Barnyard, fresh hay, spice bread on the nose and cold draw. Sweet lemon balm, black pepper, graham cracker, coffee, mild leather on kickoff. Pepper, coffee quickly fades and a dark cherry hint of flavor mixes in. Second third sweet lemon flavor and dark cherry is dissipated, uneven self correcting burn line. Hints of orange peel, a nutty creamy quality from the start is gaining strength. Sour cherry and baking spices alternate with brown sugar and mild leather. Cool smoker for such a little thing. More like gingerbread than graham crackers well into second 1/3. Draw is one notch tighter than I prefer, not enough to perfec draw. Retro hints of strawberry topping for ice cream. Brown sugar, gingerbread, graham crackers all gone, now pastry crust in background w/citrus peel, another fruity taste I can’t describe. Beginning final 1/3 burn line has remedied itself. Copious smoke throughout. Retro like Sprite and tingly. Trying to not rush my draws is difficult because this is tasty and interesting. Molasses, raw almonds, faint lemon grass makes debut. Pastry crust yields to bread crust. Installing patented Tele-nubber. Warm and firm. Final 1 1/2” black strap sorghum, orange peel, tad bit of mineral. Mellow but full, present body all the way. This little Connie has a story to tell. If the next one is this remarkable, I’ll be bidding for another fiver or tenski immediately. Smoke time hour fifteen |

82340 Foundation Olmec maduro with thanks to myself. Got a box of these in Feb and the Egyptian monument place has boxes for $99 on their flash sale so I figured it's time to try one, see if I want a 2nd box. The blend looks like something that needs age, so I bought the first box to sleep on. But gotta try it before I buy another box. Already have several hundred cigars purchased to intentionally age.
Anyway. First light is overwhelming. Big MSA flavors. Pepper, earthy, chocolatey. Thankfully it chills out a bit after an inch. Big smoke bomb this is. Gets sweeter. It's very Padron-like. I am not a big padron fan but do like em well aged on occasion. I think ill hold off on box #2 and let these sleep a year or two before I try again. It's a good cigar, but too strong for my taste preference at the moment. Very overwhelming. If you like em full, this is for you. It's strong enough I can barely taste my dr pepper.
If you like Padron 64 maduro, you need to try this one. |
