Rick, I thought you lived in California? That's why your vote wasn't allowed to count in Florida!

You dangling chad! It was the Dems that sent busloads of people(paid thugs)to distrupt the courts. The Republicans were busy shoring up the wording of their arguement against the Sore\Loserman candidates as they tried to steal the election ala Chicago.

Let it go. What's done is done and it was right. A judge can't change the laws that are on the books. Go back and do your homework on this one, you didn't get one category right!

Mag I'm saying that just because he's accomplished a lot doesn't mean he's intelligent, obviously he's done well for himself, but trying to chalk it up to intelligence is very naive...

Chris, you have no proof of his intellegence. Quit speculating and come up with facts, or I dont want to play your little ripping game.

Chris I forgot, being only twenty six doesnt give you much experience to fall back on.

You are the naive one to think at your age you know it all. Reading material does help but, living and going through life and its up an downs is what gives one wisdom. Just a thought, in my opinion.

I don't think I know everything, but I'm also not blind. When GWB speaks you can tell when he goes off of the speech, he has trouble making complete arguments and assertions. Maybe he just has a hard time putting his thoughts into coherent sentences, or maybe it's because he just isn't quite as intelligent as other people. I know he's not a moron, but he's not the sharpest tool in the shed. Robby was even willing to admit this. It's a matter of being able to separate your allegiance from your objective reasoning...

Don't try and turn this into a personal battle, I may only be 26 but I can hold my own with the best of them. I know I have much to learn and experience, but I also know that I'm not the typical 26 year old.

I'll take GW and his problems with multi-syllabic words over being talked down to or ridiculed by the likes of Algore!

PS: Recent polls find that 66% of Americans can't think of a Democrat that's running for President in 2004! Woo-Hoo!

Young man? Should I call you pops then?

Just watch him speak, or look at all of the websites out there quoting his verbal miss cues. I'm not going to point out facts that other republicans on this board readily concede. You're the only one who has ever said that he was intelligent, or fought to try and prove it.

To whom it may concern : I feel it's my duty as a voter to take Al Gores side on these two issues, 1. Al Gore did not concede the election because he was a quitter he conceded because HE LOST the election FAIR and SQUARE. 2. Al Gore did not grow a beard to hide behind he said he grew it because his favorite president George Washington had one. JonR

Chris, He ran the Texas Rangers for just one example of his intelligence in the real world. To get away from politics.

In pro sports as you well know. Money is the bottom line. He was successful in that franchise. Are you going to dispute that too? Just curious.

PS: now amuse me with one of those facts you claim the rest of the Republicans have conceeded to.

Mag...

In regards to your comment...

"Do any of you on this thread think you are smarter than him? If so, why are you sitting in front of your computer? Wouldnt you be more of an asset to society to do something more productive than he has?

Go ahead, rip on him. Which one of you wise guys have more accomplishments than him? Which one of you will impact the world like he has? I'll answer for you, none of you will & neither will I.

The next time you want to rip him a new one, look in the mirror and ask yourself, could I do it?"

I can't sing better than most of the final 15 or so of American Idol, but I'm not trying to be the "American Idol!" So I feel perfectly free to judge them based on their competition and the title that they are going for.

Don't you think we ought to hold the President of the United States to a higher standard of intellegence than those of us on this board? No offense gang.

Now as I have posted before, if he flew jets, he's no moron. McCain also flew jets (in actual combat mind you, his dad probably could've gotten him in the Guard too) but he's more inteligent, period.! Now I don't have their I.Q. scores to offer you your proof, but I think it's pretty obvious.

Clinton is very intelligent but I wouldn't stack his moral standards up against W's. Take him for what he is. I, for one don't think it's necessarily a bad thing having a "simple kinda' man" for a president.

Robby, he may not be the sharpest, but he surely isnt even close to being inaffective at his job.

A CEO of a successful company doesnt know every aspect of the companies workings, and especially every technical detail.

CEO's are masters at delegating work to knowledgable people in each department of the company or organization.

Thats the same for the President. He has a cabinet of secretaries that each run that branch of the Gov and keeps Bush informed as to what is going on and gives needed facts so he can make decisions.

Bush is a good leader, and has in place what I believe are the best people for each job. Thats why he is a good President and will continue to be.

I respect your opinion but, are you an expert too on evaluating ones intellegence from news bits? Just curious.

Cause if you arent, then you are guessing and judging without any facts to back what you are saying. Just my opinion.

I'm afraid that I am unable to purport that I am a registered expert at intelligence interpretation.

Most of us have seen more than news bits. I've seen several debates and mucho live footage of W. He may just have some sort of speaking irregularity. It could also be his lack of self confidence. I really wish the President of the United states could pronounce an important word like "Nuclear" correctly.

Without a well practiced speech, he often has trouble with his words. Can you deny this? Here's a quote you may have heard...

Slight paraphrasing...
"There's an old saying back in Crawford... "Fool me once.....sh...shame on you........

Well fool me can't get fooled again!"

Did he have a Who concert flashback?

Good work Chris. Man, there are just too many to read 'em all. I gotta get back to work.

Thanks to c., I found the direct quote...

"There's an old saying in Tennessee — I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee — that says, fool me once, shame on — shame on you. Fool me — you can't get fooled again." —George W. Bush, Nashville, Tenn., Sept. 17, 2002 (Click for video)

I guess the "video" portion of the copy/paste won't work here. You can find it on c's 2nd address from his post.

Reporting in.

Have not been able to view the Al Gore Vidio clip yet. Not referance to it on C-SPAN website. (Most likely because of the age of the clip.) Have inquiries into both C-SPAN and SNOPES.com.

Chris, I would give a few links of Clintons adventures but, its not appropriate to list PORN sites on this forum. Hehehe!

I would rather have a President that has a few wrong word pronunciations, rather than a Pres who is morally bankrupt.

Change the subject when facts are presented, good tactic Mag. And it's not a few sites, do a google search on bushisms and you'll get nearly 17000 hits, not to mention all of the other keywords that will bring in new sites.

Stick to the subject or concede, don't change it...

GWB is an excellent president ... comparable to the best ever? ... none of us will know the answer to that question for at least a generation ... the perspective of history changes a lot of things .... Lincoln's Gettysburg Address, widely admired and quoted now, but it was very badly reviewed at the time is was delivered ... "the cheeks of every American must be red with shame as they read the dishwatery utterances ... " etc ...

I'm extremely pleased at the job GWB has done to date and am confident he'll be well thought of when the history of these times is written ...

Oh, and btw ... I'm SO completely tired of the BS that he wasn't elected or that he was appointed ... those parroting those now extremely tired incorrect phrases either did not pay attention during the last election or never understood the system in the first place ... simply and concisely put, it's this way ...

GWB got more electoral college votes than Gore got ... that means he won the election ... no recount of ballots EVER showed Gore as winning in Florida ... all the Supreme court did was say "enough with the recounting ... it's over".

Oh, one other little tidbit ... the ongoing autopsy on those ballots has STILL not put Gore in the lead ... Bush won in 2000, and he has remained the winner for all of the time since ... it's that simple.

IF, after a generation from now our country slides morally (which, on average it has done since it's inception), Bill may be highly regarded. Our children may think it despicable that he was derided for lying about sex, especially since his predecessors were left alone by the press for this taboo subject. Ofcourse there is a chance that our moral standerds could swing the other way. Who knows.

Understand that I don't condone lying under oath. He got caught and he should've just taken his lumps, but his predecessors would never have been asked. I think the name "Slick Willy" still fits. He's not someone I would trust with my wife, but I had fun in the 90s, how 'bout you guys?

That's nice of you to "not condone lying under oath".
It's good that folks like to abide by federal law.

I never ducked your responce. I gave you an example of a successful venture(the Rangers) and you responded back.

I dont feel that another is necessary. Is he up on charges for any wrong doings with the Rangers? NO!

If that changes then you can bring up your links again. Until then he is innocent until proven guilty.

Rick,
You may not be parroting some drivel, but using the "stolen election" battle cry is unintelligent at best.
The Supreme Court did not hand over the election. It simply put an end to the madness. Cripes, they'd STILL be counting in Florida if they weren't forced to stop.
They already had several RE-counts. And each time the results were the same. Closing your eyes, blocking your ears and chanting "la la la" doesn't make it any less true.

The notion that GWB "stole" the election by virtue of a Supreme Court decision is pure drivel ... to ignore the facts and continue to reiterate the drivel is clearly a parrot-like response.

The fact is, he got more electoral votes ... he won the election ... period ... I can understand someone whose liberal ideology prevents them from LIKING the facts ... were it the other way 'round, I wouldn't much like it either ... I recognize too, that the concept of the electoral college concept is not well understood and can see how those who DON'T understand it might feel that something is amiss with the process that a candidate can get get fewer popular votes, yet still prevail in the electoral college ... it's not a common phenomenon and in fact has happened only once before ... but the fact that it's an uncommon and little understood phenomenon does not in any way equate to the winner having "stolen" anything ...

Hey, the fact is, Kennedy was elected under what has to rank as much more questionable circumstances back in '60 as I'm sure you recall ... what has your research turned up on the subject of dead people having cast key voties in Cook County, IL and down in (I think) Nogales County TX? ... or is your research limited to only Republicans? ...

Clearly, almost 3 years after the election was over, if the continuing recounting of ballots hasn't changed anything (and it hasn't), it's time to accept the facts ... to deny them and continue a tirade against them is pretty much the equivilent of what a parrot could do ...

cook county's election results were tainted. possibly why the mafia was so pissed at the kennedy brothers and had, at least jack done away with when he not only wouldn't work with them, but put bobby on their tails.

I never believed that for a second ... in fact, on the Sunday morning following the assassination, I was sitting in the living room of my parents home, explaining to my Mom why I thought the whole thing was rigged when the most amazing thing I ever saw on TV occured as Jack Ruby shot Lee Oswald live on CBS ... in the almost 40 years since, everything I've learned has added to my conviction that he did NOT act alone ... hell, there's more persuasive evidence that he wasn't even involved than there is that he was the lone gunman ...

What can I say, I was born in '70 which put me in my 20s in the 90s. I guess you didn't have a good decade. Sorry you're so bitter.

Maybe I didn't make my point clear enough for you but I believe Bill got his just desserts. He committed a crime and his legacy is forever tarnished with impeachment! Understand that my political leanings are more toward liberatarianism. I hate 'em all! I prefer to think independently to folling, as a lamb to the slaughter, any political party's doctrine. So I get to play Devil's Advocate now and then and stir it up a bit. Sorry for ruffling your feathers.

Could someone please tell me how by how many votes Gore won? Was it a landslide? Does he have a mandate?

I won't sleep tonight if I don't find out.
