have yet to try these and would like to get opinions

All in SG
Chateau Fuente
Double Chateau Fuente
Chateau Royal Salute

Are they all similar in taste? The site I used gives the same write up for all 3.

I like the Cuban Beli a lot are these close to that?

Thanks in advance
tony

All good ... in fact ... excellent cigars.

... but different from the Cuban SG Beli in the filler and binder ...

tony........Slim is right about the Cuban Beli. It is a bit more full bodied than the other SGs. But they are all great smokes.

Godfather used to always say to me, "Try the 8-5-8 Sungrown! Try the 8-5-8 Sungrown!" So I finally got sick of hearing him say it and bought one.

Hot damn! One of the most full-bodied, spiciest, yet not-at-all harsh smokes I've had.

... why do you think it was patriarch Arturo Fuente's personal cigar, blended and rolled just for his personal use ... and wasn't released until after his death?

If I could find an 858 SG I'd surely smoke it. I listed what I can find and plan on buying one box and a few singles.

Just not sure which box.

Everybody has different preferences but if it were me the box buy would be the Double Chateau. Unless of course you can find a box of the 858SG, in which case please let me know where that might be!

I agree on the Cuban Beli but IMHO it still needs some nap time to really come alive. Definitely a little more punch than the Chateau line but can't even touch the 858.

Supposedly there will be no 858 SG's released this year. Maybe next?

I'll just have to suffer through and hope my box will hold out :-)

I was told by two shop owners in different states there is a AF SG Hemingway, if so has anyone tried one. I went to one of these unnamed, no directions to or location given of shops and they did not have any. They did have all of the other SG so I picked up my years supply. Keep in mind I live an hour and a half from a shop which carries them.

eleltea --- Carlito said himself over at the CF forums that there definately would NOT be a Flor Fina 858 SG release for 2003 ... and was ambiguios about whether or not they would ever be released again ... but it didn't sound promising.

Intel --- yes, there was a Hemingway Classic Sun Grown that made its debut early this year. There were only 165 boxes released, and they went out to the winners of the Fuetne Display Contest. The two grand prise winners each received 10 boxes ... and the rest only five boxes.

The have long since been bought out by the connoisseurs and collectors ... unless any of those retailers have hoarded any of them ... and if you do find them ... they are going for an outrageous chunk of change. I've seen the on that 'other' auction site selling for $100 a stick ...

Talk has it ... it was a one time deal, and they were created just for the display contest. Some say that 'someday', they will go into production ... and will be just as elusive as the WOAM, UTS, BTL, Hemi Maddies, and the other 'seasonal' and limited releases offered by Fuente.

No one really knows for sure ... and those that do, aren't saying ...

And yes ... they are one incredible cigar, better than the 858SG, IMHO. I was lucky enough to aquire four of them, and ended up gifting out three, before I finally smoked the one I had left. In all honesty ... had I smoke one first ... I would still be sitting on the other three.

... such is life ... but I'm sure that those I gave them to, are still trying to recover from the 'shock and awe' of them ... LOL!

What Slim said above.....

All AF SG are good smokes, IMO, but the AF Cuban Beli is a cut above the others (the SG's that tonester mentioned)....it has a bit more kick and they age very well.

Of course the AF 858 SG, and the Hemi SG and maduros are fabulous smokes if you can find them and willing to pay the price for them.

Nothing beats a 858 SG for the money.

I didn't get a chance to try the Cuban Belicoso this weekend but did fire up a Don Carlos and was disappointed. The wrapper was very thin and cracked at the head right away. The smoke seemed thin and lacked character. I'm not very good at puuting it into words but it certainly didn't seem special. Padron 5000 Mduro, CAO Anniversary Maduro, Puch Gran Puros and LGC SEries R all seemd much more interesting to me. Keeping that CAO lit was a bear though...are they all that way?

The Cuban Belicoso should get burned this week.

I have never had a problem with any A.Fuentes product. To me the Royal Salute S.G. is different, than the 858 S.G., but worthy of admiration, and damn tasty. And check the humidity of your humi. but I never have had a problem with the burn on a CAO.
