I got the call this morning ... and I was sent an 'Offer Letter' by email a few minutes later.

It read, in part:

I am pleased to inform you that Purcell Enterprises, Inc. d.b.a. Purcell Brackets and Pacific Coast
Electronics, is extending you an offer for the position that you applied and interviewed for. This
decision, from so many qualified applicants, was extremely difficult. However, the results of your well prepared interview, coupled with the follow-up letter you e-mailed us the following day, and the outstanding recommendations we received, led us to decide in your favor.

The compensation plan will be a starting salary of '$$$' per month (... all I will say, is it's a 'nice chunk of change' greater than I was making at my last job).

This is an exempt position. The company will provide full medical, dental and vision benefits for the employee and partial premium for the family members, if needed. We also provide a 401k plan where we
match 50ยข on the dollar, for eligible employees. Also, we provide three weeks paid vacation after the first year of employment.

You have agreed to begin your employment on Tuesday, September 2nd, 2003.

Of course ... after 10 months of 'anxiety and despair' ... I called them back and graciously accepted their offer!

And tomorrow ... the wife and I are off to the Mexican Caribbean, for a week of fun and relaxation. She told me, that if I got the job before we left on our vacation ... she would buy me a 'swim with the dolphins' !!!

... life is good!

Oh yes, HockeyDad ... those will be 'tagging along for the ride' also.

In fact, I'm going to meet up with a gentleman from the Cigar Family, Sunday night ... for a cigar, a cool drink, and some good converstaion.

He said that Dominican and Mexican (if you can believe that) cigars are very hard to come by in Mexico ... so he asked me to bring along as many Dominican (and the like) dog rockets (he said anything is better than nothing) that I have, that I want to get rid of, and he will buy them from me ...

I'm going to give him an assoreted box of ones that I've been aging for years (that I know that I will never smoke), and also give him one of the Hemi Maddies to enjoy that night ... among others ... hehehe!

Well Slim, since you will probably be spending more time at a "smoke free" workplace it only make sense for me to offer you my services as designated smoker. As an expert on inventory control, or lack thereof, I will be glad to help you keep your humi(s) on the full rotational basis they have endured the past 10 months. Couldn't be happier for you. Way to go.

Slim,

There are plenty of Mexican cigars there, they just all have cuban bands on them! No, No, No. I recall that every shop pretty much had nothing but cuban cigars or hand rolled cigars being done right in front of you. One had Te-Amos. I can't recall anything else.

It's pretty funny how things work out, Messier11 ...

Before I lost my last job, I had 10 humidors fully stocked. Now, each one has only four or five each in them ... except for my display humi, which I keep fully stocked with the 'best of the best' ...

... also, my 'unemploment compensation' ran out two weeks ago ...

Great news Slim,
Sorry to hear of the 2 hour commute, but I find my commute, around an hour, is a great time to plan my day. Of course, with my commute, I have only 1 stop sign, each way to and from work. Smoke the good stuff. I am smoking a PAN26 in your honor, right about NOW.
Later
Dave (A.K.A. Homebrew)
P.S. Have a great time on your vacation.

Slim,

Robert wasn't at the event last night (I think he had a wedding), but should be here in Nov. I guess you'll have to break the good news to him personally. Enjoy your trip.

wer --- he found out through another 'cigar club' that we both are members ...

... yeah, he was extremely happy for me, more so than I really expected. He is a very caring and compassionate individual, and he shows deep concern for his friends in need ...

Well, I'm off to the airport folks (do I hear cheering in the background? ... LOL!) ...

... take care, and have fun while I'm away, but try not to let the boards get in to great of a disorder ... ;^)

I kind of feel like the parent that goes away on a trip, only to have the family that is left behind, throw a big 'house party' ... and they end up tearing the place up ... LOL!

Seriously though ... enjoy yourselves!
