Hey all--

I just got 4 different 5 packs of cigars I hadn't tried before, but looked along the lines of what I like.

Some of my favorites are Padron maduros, Partagas Black Labels, Oliva "O" Maduros, CAO Maduros, CAO Brazilias, Onyx Reserves...basically medium to full bodied maduros and dark sungrown wrappers. I love the rich taste of the darker wrappers.

Well...I got the Perdomo Reserve #4 Maduros, Perdomo 2 Ecuacion Maduros, Montecruz Negra Cubana Volume 1, and the Bucanero Clasico Maduro Robusto.

It seemed like those were along the same lines as the cigars that I already enjoy, but I wanted to hear your opinions on these. It seems that many of you like the Perdomo family not just for their cigars, but for their work on the CAOs as well.

I plan on picking up some Punch maduros and oscuros as well. Any other suggestions for cigars along the lines of what I like already?

I look forward to your responses.

-Adam

Hi,

Try the Partagas Black Prontos. Great for a lunch smoke. Remember, there are only two kinds of advice: that which is not needed and that which is not taken. Try, smoke, judge for yourself.

I've had the Perdomo2 and the Perdomo Reserve Maduro.

The Perdomo2, both Cameroon (red band) and Maduro (yellow band), I really liked, especially the Maduro, which had a very strong cedar taste that I loved.

I had my first Perdomo Reserve Maduro today, but I can't give it a good review yet. I had the No. 4 (same as you're getting) and had several burn problems.

First off, the perfecto foot has a cap on it seperate from the main wrapper, and the outside of it didn't catch fire when I lit up, so I had to relight it two or three times before it caught. Then, half-way down, the burn became very uneven and I eventually tossed.

I'll try some other PR Maddies, but that one just sucked. I've found that there are only two types of perfectos, those that are made well and smoke like a dream, and those that aren't made well and are a b!tch to light up.

Have had the same problem with the reserve #4, but the rest of the reserves are great, especially after a little Humi. time.

Like you, I really enjoy the Maddies and SG wrappers, dark, oily, and sweet. I think you'll enjoy your current bid winnings. I like the Perdomo Estate Reserve #4 Maduro, and a particular favorite is the Bucanero Classic Maduro (Aaaarrrrr matey). I'll be interested to read your reveiw of the Montecruz Negra Cubana Volume 1, the one on your list I've not tried.
Smoke 'em if you got 'em.

Perdomo 2 Ecuacion Maduros is a regular in my rotation (had one last night). The perdomo reservecan burn funny and burn hot at times, but when they are on, it is a treat. MonteCruz Negra I found to be tasteless garbage compared to your regular rotation and should be alocated for the burn pile.

One thing to try with your Perdomos is to dry box them 12-24 hours before you smoke them. This will usually help alleviate any burn problems, or at least is had in my experience.

I enjoy all of the cigars you listed, especially the Perdomo Reserve, with the exception of the Montecruz Negras. I though they were a waste of my money and ended up gifting all of the away. They had very little taste to me, just like cardboard with a touch of grass.

Just my 2 cents worth,
Matt
