Here's your FACTS John, Read and Heed...

Iraq and the Links...

http://www.cdi.org/program/issue/document.cfm?DocumentID=1453&IssueID=56&StartRow=1&ListRows=10&appendURL=&Orderby=DateLastUpdated&ProgramID=39&issueID=56

IN THE SPOTLIGHT:
Ansar al-Islam
When Secretary of State Colin Powell presented the U.S. case for war with Iraq to the UN Security Council in February 2003, he pointed to Ansar al-Islam, a small extremist Islamist group in Kurdish northern Iraq. Powell presented evidence for a “sinister nexus between Iraq and the al Qaeda terrorist network,” explaining that “Baghdad has an agent at the most senior levels of the radical organization [Ansar],” and this individual offered safe haven to Qaeda members in 2000.

There's More if you Squat about Terrorists you'll find out more here;
CDI Fact Sheet: Current List of Foreign Terrorist Organizations and Other Terrorist Organizations (as designated by the U.S. State Department)

OK, so if a bunch of people want to beat me up for disagreeing with them, I'm supposed to agree with them? This veiled threat is both absurd and offensive. You know, hog, it might be the case that they would think 'hey, it's a free country. He can believe what he wants.' If they don't think that, well, then they don't understand the very country they are dying for.

Whatever. This 'I'd like to see you say that in a military bar' bull**** is so grade school. Well, my dad can beat up your dad. So there.

As to the substantial stuff, well, hey, what can I say:

"Bush himself doesn't see the connection,"

Bush himself doesn't have to worry about the Connection there anymore.. because Our Special Forces along with Kurdish Rebel's elimintated that Connection.. and the rest of the Military in Iraq are making sure there will never be a connection..

what makes you think these guys would kick your ass John??? they may buy you beers and welcome you with open arms... there isn't a threat anywhere...

Huh? Russ, please show me where I've said anything bad about military people in this thread. In fact, if you read it, I said the opposite: this is about decision makers. Always has been, always will be. You miss the point when your sole focus and attention is on 'honoring' individuals serving in the military. That is not, never has been, never will be what I am discussing on this bbs.

What does it take to get that through your head?

Emily Litella: "what's all this I've been hearing about Mr. Bush being a dingoist? I certainly don't want a president in favor of Australian wild dogs!"

Chevy Chase: "No, Miss Litella, that's 'jingoist' not dingoist."

Miss Litella: "Oh...that's different. Nevermind.

Lazygardner, LMAO when I read your post! Sort of brings to light some of the arguments we get into on the board.....

Professor John, we do not hate you for your posting, nor do I "hate You" at all, I simply think you are a little confused!

I think that alot of the posters here have lost sight of the original statement at hand, and the context thereof. First, the General was stating his OWN beliefs, those beliefs which any military man or woman has to keep to keep from seeing themselves as murderers (unless they are already sociopaths, which we don't need or want) He was addressing a group of christians, with whom he was in agreement in belief (oh yeah remember the Constitutional guarantee of Freedom of Religeon, or is that only for people who wont use it???) If there IS a guarantee of Freedom of religeon, and we don't want a total sociopath running a large segment of our military force, Why do we insist on pillorying a man who has the sand to profess his beliefs? Yes, many things have been done by proponants of ALL religeons which are at loggerheads with the teachings of the founders of those faiths. This is the problem with taking an attempt to idealize humanity and putting it into a less than ideal society, ANY society. So next time you think someone should be fired for holding certain religeous beliefs, Be ready for two things First, be ready to put YOUR ass on the wall where his was, and Second, be ready to have YOUR job taken away because some hothead doesn't agree with YOU, or thinks YOU voted wrong, or thinks YOU read the wrong kinds of books, or hang out with the wrong type of people, because if the freedom of religeon is made worthless, then all the other guarantees made in the Bill of Rights are just as worthless!
