and so it was written......the great Sir Eddie would face the Spaniard on the tilting grounds at Miami Beach.

"Smashie Panza" gathered the Spaniards lances and set forth on his burro "Ram"; making the long journey and encountering many windmills on the way.

To be honest with you I hate mowing that's why I went with the largest deck that I could manage around my property. I also have a 84" 3 pt finish mower for my big tractor when I do the fields. So to answer your question I wouldn't mow an extra 5 feet if you paid me. (Well maybe if you paid me a lot)

I drive a 48" Snapper zero turn radius mower.

I can beat you both with speed and agility.

I tried a zero turn and the speed is great but I don't think they do good on hills. I went with the all wheel steer unit and besides the 15mph speed it's just as good and it doesn't flip over on me. I also had this vision of me going 15mph and turning the wrong way and ending up in the bottom of a raven.

the ZTs go fine straight up and straight down banks......traversing a bank is difficult and dangerous (requires weight shifting).

Cut my yard cutting time from four hours to one; although the last mower was a SUPER hunk of crap.

You are right about cutting time my neighbor down the road cuts 8 acres and he zips along but it's all flat so he has no problems.

I'd rather be in the bottom of a Raven's cheerleader, but to each his own.

I couldn't justify the zero turn's cost especially since it couldn't handle the steep incline on one side of my property that was purposely put in by the builder for irrigation purposes.

Still have to finish up with my Toro self-propelled job similar to X's. That's ok. Need the exercise.

Btw, I would have kept my previous forrest green CHEAP MTD (bought it from friend who had dealership) but it was beginning to cost me more to maintain annually than the initial pricetag. Also, almost tipped over several times as I hoisted a beer. LOL

1) Blue Rug Juniper ground cover on the banks.

2) Smaller beers.......just more of them. Keep the spares in a cooler by your feet for counterbalance.

^ especially if the "tie rod end" is a rebar and some bailing wire!

(one of the many reasons my previous mower was a POS).

I once measured the "turn radius" of my old DynaMark mower.....sixteen feet.

Both front wheel bearings had been replaced by improvised brass bushings with a lot of wobble.

The belt came off once a week and it took a crew of lawnmower scientists it figure out how to re-install it.

I liked Eddie. While he never told me exactly where he lived, I was able to deduce that we lived fairly close to each other in Central Illinois

I have nothing to add but, this thread has the potential to reach mythical status and just want to be a part of it.

A damnable lie! Begged my dad for years to let me mow the lawn. Alas, I was always too young to do so. That is until one magical day when I became old enough. Same day coincidentally that the rider broke down, never to be repaired. Walked 1.5 acres every week (self drive at least) excepting winter for the following six years. Far from ruling ThumbDown

I never had a problem with him. Looks like bloodsport was offering to drag him around on his mower... that seems sane.

You're lucky! My dad got me one for my 15th birthday! I did ask for a new one for the house and because me and my brother would go door to door asking to do lawns to make some pocket money but, I didn't ask for it as a Birthday present! He laughed about that for about 3 weeks straight. My brother and I did make some decent money with it though. Hell we used to go to the local supermarkets and bag groceries or offer to load people's car's for tips. Or we'd run to the store for the older people in the neighborhood or do chores for them. You don't see kids doing any of that stuff anymore. No kids knocks when it snows either. We did that too. We were always looking to do something to earn money. Today? Forget it. I forget which comedian said it but this is the Worst. Generation. Ever.

You're EXACTLY right on the majority of the current generation of kids, and I start the counting at 30 and below, LMAO!! My own kids ain't worth a plug nickel, for the most part. I can't get help, AND they know I'm disabled. I can still last longer on a tractor than my son in law!
