mroptimistic, ahem, there are people on this board who proudly consider themselves socialists and probably commies too... I'm not one them, but believe me, they're here.

I never said there weren't.

65gtoman, your still wrong in saying im doing the same thing im accusing you of. Since your not really getting the point ill make a little chart.

I agree with the war. ---OK
I think Bush is a great president and im glad he is willing to actually fight for something. ---OK
Anybody who disagrees with me or bush is a traitor --NO
There is too much opposition to the war, I wish more would see the benefits of it. ---OK
All those demon offspring oppose the war because of the vocal socialist-communists. ---NO

Hopefully your getting the point by now. Expressing your opinions is one thing, your completely free to do that and I dont care if you have the same or opposing views. But when you start labeling and insulting others because of their opinions and then claim they are working against the country when you yourself are acting against what this country stands for by trying to deny others a fair say, then you are the one that is out of line, the unpatriotic one. Its as simple as that.

I'm really getting sick an tired of the pejorative use of the word liberal to label anyone who isn't in lockstep with the Bush administration. And the basic premise of this thread...."why aren't the 'liberals' talking about this" Personally, I see a lot of what the neo-cons pejoratively label as liberals talking a lot about the capture of Saddam and I have yet to see any one of them say anything but positive jubilation over the event. OK, they still have issues with Bush, but having Sadddam in the bag is a good thing for everyone, OK?

Personally I would label myself as a moderate who supports our efforts in Iraq on a military level but some reservations about the diplomatic effort and and a serious disagreement with theadministration's environmental and economic policy. I could go into depth about that but perhaps in another thread. The reality is that each of us has opinions and beliefs that I think we all put some significant depth of thought into. (well hopefully at least) It is a heinous act of disrespect to coin one's entire polotical views and beliefs into a one word label.

So from now on... instead of just calling them liberals....lets show more thoughfulness and consider
weenie, pinko, bleeding heart, hippie liberals.

and just to be fair instead of just calling them conservatives, try deceitful, hypocritical, power mongering, insensitive Neo-con artist.

Glad I'm not either of them

mroptimistic, OK, good points.

dbguru, hehehe I hope you don't take this the wrong way, but IMO, a moderate is a liberal without the stones to call themselves a liberal :-) Just bustin your chops buddy.

I enjoy reading these but rarely post.

Robby, I am with db on being a moderate. I think that moderates can also lean one way or the other. But to say a moderate is the same as a liberal IYO is just wrong. I very rarely agree with the left and never agree with the extreme right. However, I support Bush all the way to 2008 and a staunch supporter of our military. I believe that both sides have some value to add to our country, the right just has more.

We probably share many of the same opinions and beliefs.

I know you were just busting his chops - but man you just basically equated db with jdr.

Although I consider myself conservative, rather than moderate, that does not mean I don't view both sides before making an objective opinion.
In fact, it was not the allure of the right that resulted in me being Republican. Rather, it was the push from the left.
The Democrats used to help balance the system. Now they have no platform. Nothing to stand for. Only against.
And that doesn't do anybody any good.

Robby....
I'm sure there are many things we agree on and I sincerely appreciate your attempt at showing your sense of humor.

The one thing that brings us all together here is the enjoyment of a good cigar. Come to think of it even Bush and Clinton have that in common...well almost... I'm mean Bill was a bit more creative in his cigar enjoyment. OK just going there for a raunchy chuckle.

tonester666, man, if I did that, I SINCERELY apologize!! Not to disrespect John, I respect his right to dissent, but disagree with 99% of his positions.

Much of the rhetoric on the misc board does lean pretty hard right, and so do I. But I actually consider myself more of a libertarian, but I don’t think they can win. Which I guess is more middle of the road, i.e., fiscal conservative, social liberal, smaller government, more personal responsibility, etc… I guess that makes me middle of the road as hard as I try to classify myself as hard right.

Somebody else said recently, the republicrats are the dems of the 60s and the dems are the communists of the 00s. I think that was a pretty profound statement.
