OK, I want to settle this once and for all.......

I received the package on 1/9/04 and since I have been extremely tied up at the restaurant and with all of my 6 childrens games and events at school. Pat had my phone number the entire time and I did not receive a call. Sometimes I get really swamped.. The best situation would have been to call me to check on the status of the trade insted of jumping ahead of the gun. I have always been a man of my word and this will not change. If anyone hass any question for me contact me personally at 850-897-1534 insted of stirring stuff up....

you are owed an apology. i personally find no fault with the time frame. i would have waited at least a month before i felt forgotten.

it's patman's first trade and he may have been over anxious.

Blueeyes,

I would have called you but I deleted your telephone number. That is why I e-mail you. Like I said I was not ratting you out or anything. I atempted to contact you every way that I knew how to. I am not mad. You seem to be. And yes that was my first trade and I was a little anxous. For that Hey! I appologize. No problem. Can we get past this?

And one other thing, if yo read the threads I was prompted on numerous occasions to give the name. I did not make your name public. another poster did. I was refraining from going public for the very reason that you thought I should not have "jumped ahead of the gun" I was gonna give you till Wednesday. So Its not Wednesday, I'm getting my cigars and all is good. I have no problem with you, I just wish you could have updated me. Thats all.

Ok, Now can we get past this?

SOB... I am glad this one is about settled... my Gut feels better now....

I myself and the laziest when it comes to getting packages out the door.. ask Coach or many others... (another reason why I don't get into trades much anymore) I had a bet/deal with coach and the fightin illini beating AZ.. remember how far back that game was?? well it took me a yr or almost that to get him the package... and then there was Ed.. he sent me some cigars he did not favor any longer... it took me a yr or that to send him a simple cigar trade offer LOL... it was not on purpose... any event... this is just how busy it has been around my place and time off to get to the post office... many times heading somewheres and thinking DOH!!!! I could have grabbed those packages and sent them... hell's bells don't trade with me...

Just send me your snailer and I'll fix your mailbox LMAO!!!!!!

usahogathotmaildotcom

ummm that was for patman not the rest of you bumbs LMAO!!!!!

One bit of advice: If you are going to be that "swamped" on a regular basis, don't trade unless you have made it clear that your trades my take a while. I am glad to see no one got flamed though.

What Sonny_LSU said, and everythig I said earlier ...

... a month is NOT acceptable to wait on a trade (unless you live out of the country) ... IMHO.

am glad to see that everything got worked out!

I agree, if you do up a trade and you are going to be tardy in sending it - then let the other person know - for instance Clive owes some people sticks and he let them know they would be getting them after payday since he did a wee bit too much buying on cbid this payday LOL - but he wanted people to know that they would be getting something from him, but not as quickly as usual. just a form of curteousy - I told Clive gonna take away his keyboard if he does it next payday LOL when I read that post about someone spending over a thousand bucks I turned to him and said don't get any ideas LMAO (I know he wouldn't do that anyways LOL) so now that everyone is happy again lets smoke! :-)

I had a bad experience on an Ebay purchase once. Paid for the item and the lady would not return any of my e-mails regarding the shipping. Once I gave her the decision to answer my e-mails or suffer the consequences of a negative review, it was amazing how fast she became "unswamped".

IMHO, it is all about common courtesy. Treat others like you would want to be treated. A simple one sentence e-mail can go a loooooong way to avoid confusion and negative feelings.

I'm glad everything worked out for both parties involved.

Years ago, I traded frequently. It was pretty standard that when the trade was agreed upon, each trader immediately boxed for shipping or ordered what they were sending. Trades rarely took longer than a few days to complete.

As I understand this trade, one trader sent his end, and may get his end three weeks later. I do not think this is acceptable; nor is the excuse acceptable. Had there been communication between the parties during the interim and an acceptance of the time frame, then it's a totally different situation. The "Why didn't you call me?" statement rings hollow. If you cannot complete a deal in a timely fashion, the onus is on you to notify the person with whom you are trading, that you have a problem completing the trade. They should not have to email you repeatedly or call you.

This kind of situation is happening on all the cigar boards too frequently to suit me. As a result, I rarely trade with anyone that hasn't had a long time presence on the respective board/forum.

Well, I was hoping for a good reason, but I'm afraid I too did not find it. I agree with Sonny, Liz, Slim and SteveR. I think in a trade the shipments should be made roughly the same day. I also agree that the "Why didn't you call me?" excuse doesn't cut it.

I think that unless you have a long term trading relationship with someone, the shipping should be prompt. Any new trader is going to be a little anxious when he/she ships out some of his/her favorites and has to wait to see if they got screwed.

Let this be a lesson to us all.

Hey patman, look at what happened to your English throughout the progression of this post.. You start out red-neck, and end up contracting ideas as a laureate. I need to meet your Tutor..

Whew! made it thru the reading.. usually dont
get involved in these kind of posts but gonna
give my very simple basic two cents..

Dont do a trade unless you can respond immediately
with tracking numbers etc unless prior understandings
have been communicated.. really pretty simple..

**no disrespect meant to anyone.. JMHO

good communication is the key. if i trade i post a d/c # and email the person the # as well. and do it quickly, i try to mail my package the same day and before the other person can even get to the po. i just wish there was a place to post trader comments here as in other boards. i am not much of a trader but have sent cigars to newbys just for fun and to give them an assortment to start with. JMHO.

I'm sure most of you have already read this post, but just cause it seems topical here's a link:

Being a father of young children i can't help but believe in some cases, for some people, consequences to negative behavior help to improve performance.

As has been said no offense to the involved parties. I'm a flake too.

Let me be the first to say this, again... Blueeyes is not a bad trader. He got overwhelmed at home and maybe he should have sent an e-mail, get over it. However, he has made good with his end of the bargain. THIS IS A DONE DEAL! Given the opportunity I WOULD trade with him again.

On my side, this was the first trade I have ever done so I was a little insecure and maybe jumped the gun here.

What more is there to say about this?

"What more is there to say about this?"

I don't know why you brought this up in the first place ... if you didn't want people to post their thoughts on the issue. I'm glad that all worked out well for you ... but, you just can't back out of this and act like nothing happened.

It's a very real situation, patman ... and one that should not be taken so lightly. A very good lesson was learned here, by all who have read this thread.

Especially the all 'newbies' out there ...

I've seen this happen to a lot of guy's over the years, at a lot of different forums, and not all of them worked out so well.

as I have said before since Clive has been on CBid I know for a fact if he is going to be delayed even a day he lets whoever is expecting something from him know. This way there is no miscommunication of any kind. Good excuses or bad excuses some sort of notification of delay needs to be used. a quick email takes maybe five minutes to type up and send. or a quick thread on here saying the same thing takes about the same time. Most BOTLS will understand if there is a delay whether it is real life kicking your butt or having to wait till the next payday etc as long as they are notified of the delay. Simple curteosy (I know I spelled that wrong LOL dang where's a dictionary when ya need it) goes a long long way!

Lesson learned I waited already for 2 months,no money no e-mail, and after some fake cubans I received in a other trade I will stop trading.IMHO if I want a rare cigar I can get it on the Y site and I have a good source of real cubans, so except 2or3 trading partners, trade is over for me.Amen

just got to put a word in here for CWFoster. he's a good guy, true BOTL, and i've seen nothing but great communication from him. i'd trade up with him (or liz) in a heartbeat.

life can get complicated. communication is key in keeping everybody happy, and i'm grateful to those folks who have been understanding of my situation, and i appreciate those who have communicated well in letting me know how things are on their end, too.

and yeah. group grope! er, HUG! :)

I've read through this whole post... long read... and I am surprised that Blueeyes seemed to take offense of his own procrastination.

Yes we all get busy, but it definitely wasn't Patman's job to call Blueeyes for his part of the trade that was a almost a month past due. He did his part.

Plus I didn't see any kind of apology from Blueeyes in this or the original trade thread (hopefully it was done privately).
