LOL... perfect example of 'freedom' of speech, but shut up if you don't agree with me.

Quote:

"Whether fans at Yankee Stadium agree with Delgado or the Bush administration's war, they still should not have booed him when he came to the plate. "

You know, the more I think about this article the more hypocritical I believe it is. The writer only states this because he’s against the war, and that’s his prerogative… however the article really is hypocritical and I believe I won’t be the only one who thinks this. Let’s look at the below quote from the article:

“More to the point, why aren't we cheering a man who is publicly teaching our sons and daughters that in the United States you are free to stand up for what you believe, even if your government doesn't agree? Now that's something worth fighting for.”

The same question could be said about the writer… let me twist the above quote to make my point:

“More to the point, why aren’t we CHEERING THE BASEBALL CROWD who are publicly teaching our sons and daughters that in the United States you are free to stand up for what you believe, EVEN IF THE ELITE MEDIA DOESN’T? Now that's something worth fighting for.”

Words of wisdom! Couldn't say it any better even if I tried.....sick and damn tired of the liberal press taking free shots at USA, President and our troops!

I think you are forgetting one thing. RESPECT.

Both sides of the issue should practice this.

Not usually the case, but I agree with Sylance in this case. That is why I posted this. I believe wholeheartedly in the Delgado's right to protest in this manner and I admire him for it. He is standing up for his convictions rather than not standing up at all. But the hypocritical viewpoint of this reporter makes me sick. The crowd has just as much right to voice their opinions through booing.
Were I sitting in those stands with one of my children I would stand up and CHEER for Delgado and then explain to my child the fact that he has the right to protest how he see's fit and the crowd has the right to protest his actions also. That is what America is about.

agree with unceleb . . .delgado has the right to protest and voice his opinions, but so does every single person sitting in that stadium . . . his right to protest does not impinge upon their right to boo or cheer him, either way. .
