i'm a democrat. i was born with it. :) but i cannot, just can NOT, take conventions serious, no matter whose it is.

they're a cast of characters putting their best feet forward and hoping those feet don't end up in their own mouths.

it's a lot of catch-phrase creating, cliche' bouncing and meaningless hoopla. it's a lot of passing out flyers in your own livingroom. yay, us! we RULE! yadda yadda.

i really just think they're hokey. this one was no exception, and i'm sure i'll see the reps' convention as just as much of a hokey circus as i saw the dems'.

the fun part is to jot down parts of the campaign promises and see how many actually are kept 4 years later (if that candidate actually becomes prez). for instance, what the heck ever happened to all that research into non-gas/oil-fueled cars that bush swore he'd make a priority? haven't heard a peep about it since the last rep convention. lol

so i made a list of all kerry promised, and i'll stash it away and, if he becomes prez, i'll dig it out near the end of 4 years and have a good laugh.

Very good, you can do that with either party, as they never live to the promises! We would like that but fuhgedabitit!

Yo Cav:

Writing down kerrys promises was a waste of time, you would be better off just writing down GWs promises.

jonr: i DID write down GWB's promises -- 4 years back. i do this with every presidential candidate, and whomever wins and thus runs again, i wait four years and check off all that have been met successfully -- it's a mighty check-free list, no matter who the candidate/pres!

Cavallo not to worry my friend this is very curable. My did apparently was also born this way and was a union steel worker till he retired. About the time he hit 40 he actually realized that the Democrats had no use for those of us who are not minority, don't live in big cities, don't believe all the liberal BS, are not into drugs, don't support affirmative action, believe in God, etc.

And now he is a staunch Republican. If he can overcome this birth defect so can you. Both of my brothers are union men, firefighter and policeman - both are staunch Republicans.

My favorite quote was made by Terry McAuliffe who said,"After this all America will know the name BoB Kerry!"

my parents are Camelot inflicted liberals. I watched my dad lose almost all of his personal wealth during the Carter Years. That "cured" me! The 1st President I was able to vote for was Reagan. I used to think it was about the man and not the party until I saw that Reagan couldn't get his agenda passed through the House & Senate. Until I see a REAL Libertarian that doesn't rant about UFO's, legalizing drugs and prostitution or some other bender I'll keep pulling the straight ticket for the Republicans. I'm proud to have voted for certain candidates that would've made fine Presidents but failed to connect. Alan Keyes is one of them, and I'm holding out that the Republicans will come to their senses regarding spending. I also am wise enough to know that there is a war on terror and it must be paid for the future. Lurch would use the war as another reason to pay for some other goofy item that would benefit a select few.

The BEST part of the convention? It's over!

Well fellas, it looks like the affliction/addiction/sickness goes both ways, you sob's! LOL!

My wife, parents, and I were born CONSERVATIVE Republican, and now thanks to dubya we're all getting the cure through an injection of democrat serum. We will vote Democrat until we get a REAL American patriot to run on the Republican ticket. Not a lying, ineffective phoney who outsources jobs and cares not a whit for American businessmen as he caters to large corporations and foreign competition. Oh, and keeps the borders open for illegals and terrorists.

Let's face it, there's not much difference between the parties anymore. However, we already have a candidate who's proven himself to be a failure in our estimation. We're willing to fire him.

EX-Republican blood

PS:I'm thinking of sending my autographed picture of Bush thanking me(for past efforts & contributions) to Rick, to do with as he wishes. Maybe he'll light it on fire & post it. My father already disposed of his.
