i'm a democrat. i was born with it. :) but i cannot, just can NOT, take conventions serious, no matter whose it is.
they're a cast of characters putting their best feet forward and hoping those feet don't end up in their own mouths.
it's a lot of catch-phrase creating, cliche' bouncing and meaningless hoopla. it's a lot of passing out flyers in your own livingroom. yay, us! we RULE! yadda yadda.
i really just think they're hokey. this one was no exception, and i'm sure i'll see the reps' convention as just as much of a hokey circus as i saw the dems'.
the fun part is to jot down parts of the campaign promises and see how many actually are kept 4 years later (if that candidate actually becomes prez). for instance, what the heck ever happened to all that research into non-gas/oil-fueled cars that bush swore he'd make a priority? haven't heard a peep about it since the last rep convention. lol
so i made a list of all kerry promised, and i'll stash it away and, if he becomes prez, i'll dig it out near the end of 4 years and have a good laugh.
