The last I heard, was that it (cigar tasting board) is on the to-do list. I think, as do several of you guys, that it would be very informative. For, everyone will taste something slightly differnt than the other. Hopefully they (CB) will be able to get to it soon!! Also hope thaat there will be some formal system for posting ones results. For instance rating form 1 to 5 on strength or mild, mild to medieum, medieum, medieum to full, full. A system that will allow everyone posting an opinion to use the same basis for there comments.

Yes, we're still working on the ratings system. However, we've run into a pretty big glitch. Each brand has many sizes making the potential ratings database very large and difficult to manage unless we come up with a good data scheme to keep things organized. The easy way would be to allow ratings on brands only and not sizes. But, I'm sure many of you would argue that many brands do indeed differ from size to size. So, I'm attempting to bring together the various brand/size combinations without making the database size prohibitive. That's where we're at right now and a non-working prototype will be up soon (i hope.)

Perhaps you could have a listing by brand and let the reviewer include the size.

I think most(all)lines have a robusto(5x50)size which seems to be a popular size anyway. Why not just rate that size per brand and let us then furthur explore the line, if we choose. Also, I too would like a scale for rating strength of the cigar on a 1-5 or preferably a 1-10 scale.

no good - you would be unable to combine ratings from each size b/c someone calls it Panatela and someone else calls it Double Corona. We need a logical way to combine ratings for the same brand/size combo.

Gonz-wouldn't it be possible to have a thread by name and simply let people run that out first listing the size they are commenting on?

not to act like I can't think of anything better, but the system CA has on their site seems to work. First there is a data base of all the brands, one clicks on that brand and then up comes a separate screen for the different sizes, and there we can leave our feedback, that way one page has one brand only, not too cluttered, and on that page we have the different sizes, then to check another brand hit the back key to bring back to the main menu of all cigar brands. I presume then when we leave our feedback on a particular size, and our final rating, the average will be taken and presented with the size, and every time someone leaves a new feedback and rating, the average is adjusted. In fact to even make it more tidy, under the size one can first read the average rating, and general information, then if they want to read more, say on people's opinion of a torpedo, one can click on something like "smoker's opinions" and then that will take you to all the feedback on that particular size, and where registered CB users can leave their own feedback. But having a main database listing I think is important, that way someone could quickly scan through the brands for the cigar they are looking for.

oh yes, once someone gets to a particular size, they can then see perhaps besides the average rating, average ratings for other areas people have bene mentioning like strength, construction, etc..., then click from there to read the actual opinions.
