The beginning of wrapper comparison. Thanks to Conan for the well aged test subject. Initial SG response: liked it

Glad you liked it Dan. ThumpUp

So are you gonna smoke an 8-5-8 a day? Think

I aim to smoke an 858 per timeframe I can reasonably guarantee I won't be interrupted. Ideally 1/day, but that's probably optimistic.

If you’re not doing it already, suggest you take notes to help you remember.

Was very diligent about that for a while, but have fallen behind lately. I'm a slacker at heart

This 4 years ago. The best I do is rate everything I smoke or revise ratings based on my current palate.

54767 - Plasencia Alma Del Campo

Really good, but as I understand it’s somewhat expensive, not sure it’s worth retail. That said, it was very different than my normal profile and I loved every minute of it. Great change of pace with some very interesting flavors.

54769~ LFD DL452
from fiddler898

one of three great smokes he dropped on me during his visit this week on Cape Cod. Haven't had one in a couple of years, used to be a real favorite.
despite my gravitation to slightly milder smokes, I have always been able to fully enjoy this particular little cigar. This one was a great reminder.
Thanks Alan.

Next in the wrapper comparison and came with a nicely yellowed cello. Thanks again to Conan. I'm loving this game and couldn't have done it without you. OK, I could have, but it's easier when they all hit your mailbox at once fully aged and ready to go. I've enjoyed both but I'm going to give the edge to the Maddy over the SG. Found the SG more interesting with a strong note of cedar assuming from 5+ yrs in the sleeve. Found the Maduro to have a slightly sweeter profile but not excessively so and just hit my palate in all the right ways. Argued that I was letting my preferences cloud my judgment, but that's just what preferences do.

Glad you’re able to discern the differences without having to wait a few months or years. Ultimately, hope it expedites your cigar knowledge growth.

There's always hope. Though to date I've resisted any personal emotional or intellectual growth so momentum may be working against me.
