22 years of marraige, so to celebrate I picked up an Opus X Belicoso (the samll one 4 7/8 x 49) and a Short Story. Oh yea, I got my wife a present too! (I hope she likes Padrons, he,he,he) What a woman, past anniv. gifts include: my first humidor (stocked with 5 ea of 5 labels), CB radio, and a microphone for my harmonica. This morning she commented about how she always manages to buy me something that annoys her. lol. She must really love me!
She's taking me out to eat seafood tonight and I'm taking her fishing in the morning.

taking her fishing, eh Barry? ... what a guy! ... hey, what a gal if she likes that arrangement ... I knew a guy who gave his wife a new battery for the car one year on Christmas ... for your sake, I hope MrsW likes the fishing trip better than my friends wife liked her battery

Steve, I'm a lucky guy. She dosen't only like to go fishing, she demands it! She usually finds a way to get her hands on a bunch of Blue Crabs also. We have an arrangement, I clean the fish and she cleans the crabs. Those little buggers will shread your hands up and she'll clean 50 of them without a single complaint. Maybe I should have gotten her some chain linked gloves instead of cigars LOL.

Thanks for reminding me, I need batteries for the aerator.

Barry, from one lucky guy to another, I can tell you that IS a pretty good deal ... having that sort of arrangement is part of the secret of getting to the 22 year mark.

At our house, we've managed to reach a number in the 30s, due in no small part to interests-in-common such as MrsS's demand for the Sunday Ticket that the satelite programming provider offers so she can watch football as well as joining me in herfing while watching the games ... very similar to MrsW's demand for fishing trips and her willingness/ability to clean crabs, judging by the sound of your post.

Congrats to both of you and best wishes for many more.

Yo Barry ; Big deal one wife in 22 years , I myself had 3 wives in as many years ( they all died ) the first 2 died from eating poison mushrooms and the third one died from a skull fracture ( she kept spitting out the poison mushrooms ) so I had to use a sledge hammer . LMAO man I break myself up . All kidding aside congratulations to you and the Mrs. on your " 22nd Wedding Anniversary " and please have many many more . JonR

Congrats to you Barry. I took my SO fishing once in Indiana. I set her up to do some catfishing because she told me she didn't want to get tangled up with my lines as I cast jigs with my ultralight. With minimum instruction, she found her seat on the bank and sat quietly awaiting a bite. 10 minutes later, she looks at me and says "are we done fishing yet?". I said "as soon as you pull that fish up that's been on your line for the last two minutes". She reels in a 8 pound catfish!

We stayed till after dark when the water mocassins came out.

Congrats Barry, I'm only a little ways past halfway to your 22;
Really miss the fishing on the Texas coast; last July 4th, smoked a nicely aged VSG illusion to saver the moment; my Dad smoked the other illusion; caught nothing but damned hardheads but brother was that a kick in the pants and a moment to remember; I guess I feel that way any time I get a chance to wet a hook...

Congrats Barry...I hope I can reach your status someday. My previous marriage ended in a bad way...but I was fortunate to find another mate. Though we aren't officially married, we have been together for almost 5 years, and share something that last more than most marriages..a mortgage! I don't have any Opus X's in my collection, but I will smoke one of my prized Habano's and a Padron Anni to celebrate your special moment. Again, Congrats!!

HARDHEAD STORY! Me and a buddy of mine went down to Port Lavaca where there is a mile long state pier. The whole day saturday we pretty much had the pier to ourselves. Caught every five inch fish in the gulf. Evening came and we started hitting on some 6 and 7 lb gafftop. Had about 8 on a stringer, figured we give em to some local if any ever showed up.

This family of 10 shows up and parks their lazy a$$es in between me and my buddy who is about 10 yards down. They proceed to tie up their lines and mine. One of em catches a hardhead, reaches down to pick it up and gets it right in the palm. Needless to say, it hurt (that's what my limited understanding of Spanish indicated to me).

They continue to fish with the one gentleman shaking his hand in the air trying to shake the sting off. Well the sting got worse, and worse, and worse. Soon he is laying on the pier screaming "I'm going to die!" (that's what my limited understanding of Spanish indicated to me). They proceeded to bundled up their equipment and head for the hospital.

As they were about to leave, I pulled up the stringer of gafftops. One of em stops and asked "What kind of fish is that?". I explained "It's a saltwater catfish called a hardhead, very poisonous. Your friend might die if you don't hurry."

The pier was very quiet after they left.

Congrats again Barry. How'd you do this weekend?

Good story Mr Mean. I fished a dude out of the water one day after he passed out when a hardhead stabbed him. He was my biggest catch of the day LOL.
Fishing sucked this weekend. I mean fishing was great, catching sucked. The tides were slack and the heat, Oh the Heat! I smoked a Padron Ambassador and watched the smoke rise 15 ft. into the air with out the slightest breeze. We headed home by 8:30 AM, stopped at Blockbuster and then a T-Storm came in and the power was out until late that night.
