The cigar stores also have a new set of rules which prohibit having smoking products within reach of anyone under the age of 18 (soon to be raised to 21).
A lot of them now have to put up a divider and not allow open access to their humidors. The Cheaper! store chain now has a counter separating the front from the rest of the store where the goodies (humidor) are. Some clerks will let you go in unescorted...most won't.
Personally , I hate having some pimply faced, chain smoking, college dropout staring over my shoulder, while trying to push bundles of floor sweepings which were rolled in mexico and passed off as the house brand. Saying crap like, "Man you gotta try those. They're awesone dude."
I prefer to look at what I am going to buy carefully. Checking for the right feel and lack of bug holes. (Still never really have seen one).
It's getting to the point where you have to walk in and ask for a brand and size and the cigar "dude" with a Hava-Tampa hanging out of his mouth, will step into the humidor to hand pick one for you.
One of the reasons I don't go there very often, except they have stuff I can't get elsewhere. It's getting sorry and stupid in this state. I'll stick with my online orders and occasional multi brand samplers I can find around the net.
